Too much angst for me
Anyway, country music is the new arena rock. Pop and rock are littered with no talent cookie cutter bands today, so all the new guitar heros are popping out of country music.
Discuss.
There's always exceptions, but I generally agree.
My brother's actually in a country group that just got signed and the amount of talent in that band is just sick. Most of these guys have had training as sessionist-caliber musicians in other backgrounds like blues/jazz/pop/rock and have been cutting their teeth as songwriters for other people for years. They just happened into country partly by connections and partly because of the current trends in the industry. Country is one of the few genres where you can actually have a nice,
long career - even if you're not a mega star. The fanbase seems to be more loyal.
And while they're extremely talented, they're most definitely not the exception to the rule. Go to Nashville (which actually has an abundance of talent in all genres, not just country) and that town is absolutely littered with top flight musicians.
