Rascal Flatts is a fine country band.

They are like the emo band of country though - they sing about being lonly and alone with a whinney tone - now Kenney Chesney there is a great country singer :p

Too much angst for me :)

Anyway, country music is the new arena rock. Pop and rock are littered with no talent cookie cutter bands today, so all the new guitar heros are popping out of country music.

Discuss.

They are pretty good...little cheesy with some lyrics but thats ok...just bought tickets this morning for the girlfriend. She loves them and was quite happy when I told her I'm taking her to see them...

There's always exceptions, but I generally agree.

My brother's actually in a country group that just got signed and the amount of talent in that band is just sick. Most of these guys have had training as sessionist-caliber musicians in other backgrounds like blues/jazz/pop/rock and have been cutting their teeth as songwriters for other people for years. They just happened into country partly by connections and partly because of the current trends in the industry. Country is one of the few genres where you can actually have a nice, long career - even if you're not a mega star. The fanbase seems to be more loyal.

And while they're extremely talented, they're most definitely not the exception to the rule. Go to Nashville (which actually has an abundance of talent in all genres, not just country) and that town is absolutely littered with top flight musicians.

I'd tend to agree but it's happened like 10+ times with totally different/random people. I can see the Lance Bass thing I guess
