FOX NEWS STORY

Right there in Escondido

My Favorite parts to the story.

"I know he used the hippo manure on his garden," said Bill Ritcher. "It can smell pretty dang bad."

"Apparently a boy was with his father while he dealt with the agent, and the kid said, "Hey, that looks like a hippo,"' game warden Awbrey said. "And the dad and agent said, 'That is a hippo!' The kid asked if they bought the property, if the hippo was included."

did you ever see that show on animal planet about animal dung/how animals deficate?

they showed hippos using their tales like windshield wipers back there, flipping the stuff all over the place, i guess a pygmy hippo does the same?

What I want to know is how does something the size of a pygmy hippo get through Customs without being flagged. This is a hippo; it's huge, it smells, it takes hefty bag sized dumps. How can something like that get through animal quarantine without being noticed?

If the guy is smart enough to get it into the country and take care of it for this long why not let him keep it. As long as the hippo is happy there it shouldn't matter where it is.

Accually the hippo wasn't properly cared for so that arguement doen't work.

Stehly's neighbors have known about the hippo, but had never seen it.
"My next door neighbor has a pet Hippo"

"Oh, really?"

"Sure! Of course, no one has ever actually seen it, but ....."
