Hey, sorry if this has been posted several times but cant find an outright answer, how much real world performance increase would I see (in gaming casual computer use) from 7200 rpm hitachi sata, thnks
I just finished my first rig with a raptor in normal SATA1 setup. It might be me but is this thing really that loud? Or is my Gigabyte 3d Aurora that silent?

For seeking and writing the raptor is louder than 7200rpm drives, but idling its the same. make sure you have the raptor is a solid case which will help with the sound.
Figured since its 10k its gonna be worse, not used to a silent case as I had so many fans in my last case, so really all i hear is the drives which sound like mini firework blasts at times
Well i had a seagate drive and it was VERY loud wiht seeking. so i got 2 raptors for raid 0 just for the hell of learning how to do it and so on. I found that desktop perforance is neglegable, but BF2 loads were almost twice as fast. i still agree its not worth the price permium but maybe the 150 gig is better. i dont know.
i've had my raptor for more than a year now and i can say that there is a notacible difference when navagating through your folders and certain load times
