Raptor vs. WD6400AAKS for PC Games

I just purchased a WD6400AAKS and I was wondering if it would be best, performance wise for loading times, to re-install my pc games on it. My raptor is currently used for OS, personal files and all applications (games included).

Thanks!

Welcome to anandtech. Yes, install all of your games on the 6400AAKS, as well as your "personal files", whatever those might be. I would recommend partioning your 6400AAKS into at least two separate partions. Use the first one for your game installs, and the second one for storage, since the end of every hard drive is much slower than the beginning, or outer edges of the platters.

personal files... lol I meant word documents, receipt scans, game saves, quicken datafiles, working documents or photoshopped pictures, anything that would be hard to recreate

This is a common misconception that a lot of people make, that seek times will be diminished if they partition their drive into two partitions. Seek time remains the same because there is still another volume that will remain active at the outer edge of the platter. You can short stroke, but that will only improve seek times if you completely disregard the outer edge of the platter.
