Right now I have my HDD on the primary channel, and DVD and CDRW on the secondary channel. If I use a SATA drive, can I make my IDE HDD the slave on the primary channel? Or does the 2nd SATA port become the slave on the primary channel?
 
The SATA controller is an add-on controller, so it should have zero effect on your board's native IDE controllers. You could have up to six drives, four on Primary/Secondary IDE and two on SATA. 😀
 
They're distinctly separate from each other, so no worries about how you set up your IDE devices.

EDIT -- poop on you, mech, for beating me to it! Oh well, that's what I get for reading reviews while waiting for the forums to load ...

Some reviews written on newegg say otherwise... which is why I'm concerned...
