I need help on the backing up situation

Ive got the WD diagnostic tool and i can use that to back up.

Ive got a Maxtor DiamondMax 10 250Gb, i want to back it up to there, but i also want to still use my computer. Would backing up the whole drive mean that it would copy the windows files so that i wouldnt have to install windows again?

Or would i have to install windows onto my Maxtor then back up the whole Raptor drive?

What really i wanna do is to so i can still use my computer with everything still intact on a different drive. If anyone can help, please help quick as i dont wanna muck up the Raptor even more.

THANKS!

Just copying the files from one drive to another will not let Windows run on the Maxtor drive. However, you should be able to accomplish what you want to do using Norton Ghost or other disk duplication software to make an exact copy of the Raptor on the Maxtor drive.

Just checking... is the Raptor making a noise that's different from its normal seek noise?

Very much so, the first week was fine, then boom blue screen, and random crashes and a scratchy noise, well its more than a scratchy noise, it just sound really frightening is coming from it, very loud, ive got a thermaltake tsuami case, with a aquagate watercooling. And i can still hear it.
