I will be installing (2) Raptor 74gb SATA drives. My current system is
MOB ASUS A8V Deluxe Rev. (2)
CPU DualCore AMD 64 X2 4200
Drives
Drive #1 - Maxtor 6Y080L0 (76 GB)
Drive #2 - Maxtor 52049U4 (19 GB)
Drive #3 - WDC WD12 00BB-00FTA0 (111 GB)
PSU Antec 430
2gb memory

I will be exchanging drive #1 & #2 for the Raptors. My question is can I install the new drives and either copy my OS and applications over to the SATA drive or using "Drive Image" re-install my back-up to one of the SATA's so I don't have to do a fresh re-install? Drives #2 & #3 are for back-up only and I will not be using raid. Bottom line is I justt want to install the new drives, copy my existing OS & Apps and be on my way. Can it be that simple? Thoughts, comments or links I can read on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck with that, there are a few ways you can do it theoretically, but I've never seen any of them work seamlessly. You can do it using a live CD of Knoppix to copy the data bit-by-bit to the new drive, you can do it using Norton Ghost and probably a few more ways.

I don't know Linux, I just saw it done before. The result was a blue screen when they tried to boot to it after it was copied. Maybe they can help you with commands in the OS forum.

I recently did just this. I used Acronis True Image 9 and it took exactly 4 seconds acquaint myself with the software and get to it. The disk to replace was cloned and the original unplugged and simply restarting set Acronis to the task of remapping the new drive to C and that was it. Using it now can't tell the difference.
