Raptor boot times

What times are you getting for booting?
I mean from hitting the power switch to being IN windows?

I heard someone say 23 seconds which I doubt because the SATA bios takes a few seconds to initialize and things like that.

I personally get 35-39 seconds and on the screen where windows has the little blue bar it goes around about 2.5 times.

Sorry if no one cares about this but I was interested when someone said 23 seconds and mine was nearly twice that... and I thought perhaps I have something set up wrong. THX to anyone who replies.

its totally dependant on what you have installed and the bios's. 23 seconds is obviously possible, and much lower i'm sure. personally mines over a mintues because i have* a lot of software and fonts. most people don't realize fonts are a huge boot time killer because windows has to load every single one prior to boot for rendering purposes.

I just re timed mine so it doesn't try to boot from CD-ROM and floppy first and its closer to 32 seconds which is a bit better but I would rather have the option to boot from CD-ROM and floppy first instead of having to go tothe bios to switch them on all the time.

Initializing my RAID setup adds quite a few seconds to my boot time.

Yeah, I haven't actually timed mine, but the majority of the time it takes for my box to boot into Windows is spent in the RAID BIOS screen and then a 5 second wait on Lilo. Once Windows starts to boot, it is really quick.

Not RAID setup in my case, but the SATA controller for me.

to me, game load times would be more important than windows booting. even on my 120gb maxtor sata it takes under a minute, which is more than acceptable to me.

far cry, on the other hand, takes at least 2-3 minutes just to load a saved game (that doesn't count the initial game boot time). ut2004 takes a fair while to load as well. very irritating. i'm thinking about getting a raptor just for these issues.
