A jury sentenced Houston rap musician Carlos Coy, professionally known as South Park Mexican, to 45 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl.

The 31-year-old could have received up to life in prison from the same jury that convicted him May 18 of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Coy, who was sentenced Thursday, testified that he did not assault the girl, who was at Coy's home to spend a night with his daughter last Labor Day weekend.

He also told jurors that children in seven other sexual assault cases against him had been swayed by a prosecution request for victims to come forward. Many of them lied on the stand, he said.

Coy co-founded Houston-based Dope House Records. His latest album was released this month.

i agree. i'm not even a christian and i find this crap to be getting REALLY old.

To some, yes. I remember hearing about quite a few Arab cabbies that got assaulted... ignorant a$$holes.

I think alot of the anger has to do with the fact that the hypocrisy of America as a secular country, yet with tremendous protection of the christian religion has been pulled to its extremes. We have pedophiles, who in ANY other situation, would have been effectively raped (pun intended) by the judicial system, yet courts are struggling to even depose, let alone throw up charges, against many of these kidtouching scumbags. There is arguably no worse form of pedophilia than pedophilia committed by a religious figure - one that not only your family respects, but the whole community as well.
I hope catholicism and the big business it is, comes to full light and crumbles before even the most pious. There is noone closer to god than you, anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar.

There are no inocent priests. If they weren't directly involved, they new it was going on and said nothing. Which is just as bad. And what about the massive financial scandal that's yet to be aired. All that sunday go to church collection money used to pay lawyers,in court and out of court settlements. Hush/bribe payments to stop lawsuits. There's enough criminal wrong doing here for all the collars and robes.
