Rapid Decline

I just happened to catch the end of a segment on the Maury show, and there was the little ad at the end, which, roughly, said this:

If you would like to confess to your husband that your a prostitute, please call XXX-XXX-XXXX

Your.

Are you fucking kidding me? It's pretty bad that kids are getting these mixed up, but for an entire station to not only make the same mistake, but also miss it when making revisions...that's just sad.

The English language is on a rapid decline.

Wait a second, you think their misspelling of you're is a bigger problem than some guys wife being a prostitute? So many in fact that they are able to make an hours worth of show out of it? Also, who expects the Maury audience to notice something like that anyways?

You'd think someone who works there would have noticed it. I mean, I just glanced over it real quick and saw the error. It's really sad.

I don't think the type of person who would call regarding that topic would really care too much how it was spelled.

The decline is evident in the spelling gaffe, the theme of the talk show, and also that the OP was watching Maury in the first place

The college newspaper today spoke of our actions in Iraq causing "hostel intentions" from some people in the Middle East.

My mom was a big Maury fan when his show was actually serious. For some reason, she still watches it even thought it has turned into the Jerry Springer show. I guess it makes her feel better?

I was eating breakfast so I watched. I regret it now.

Just to set the record straight, I wasn't trying to attack, just thought it fit in nicely with the thread topic. Trash T.V. is too prevalent, but hey, it sells I guess, or it wouldn't still be on the air.

Maybe the kind of person that would call thinks that is how it should be spelled?

If you want to get technical, US Americans isn't redundant. Mainly because many countries are in the Americas.

No one else in the Americas refer to themselves as Americans. Everyone refers to the US citizens Americans. I understand US American is more accurate, but it is just not used. I am not sure she knew what that meant.

Actually that's not entirely accurate. That's the case in the States, Canada, Europe, etc, but it doesn't hold true for folks in the Latin and South American countries.
