Like the title says. What the hell is this? Are these people serious?

Please, please, give me one good reason why the board that isn't their top of the line model should cost the most money.

For 1 reason is that it has a lot of added goodies such as Firewire800 built in. Go and check to see how much one of those add on cards would cost.

Yeah, but doesn't the SLI board have all the goodies also? Isn't the reason for having a top of the line model is to have all of the goodies on it?

Gar... RAGE, etc.

Manu...? I'm sorry, I'm not really following your post.

I'm complaining about Gigabyte's Ultra-level motherboard (which is supposedly the mid-level board) being more expensive than the SLI-level board (which is supposed to be the top of the line).

Just to clarify.

Link? I can't find this board at Newegg, and don't feel like playing "find the store with the motherboard on the Intarweb".

Post links to said parts and their prices

So this wireless thing is worth more than the ability to put two video cards into your machine?

Fvcking ridiculous. I was actually going to buy that motherboard for my next machine until I found out that they were going to sodomize me for the privilege of buying their middle-of-the-road-except-for-the-wireless-card motherboard.

GA-K8NF-9 for me.

Maybe. 802.11g cards do usually run in the $30-50 range, and I'm pretty sure theirs doesn't take up a PCI slot (although maybe it does; I haven't looked at these motherboards real closely). Personally, I would not find 802.11 very useful in a desktop machine, at least a high-performance gaming desktop. I can see how it might be useful for a computer located somewhere that it's hard to run Ethernet to, but it would not be a good solution for gaming.

Uh, okay.

Sorry... kinda pissed off about the whole situation.

Here, do yourself a favor and just get this model:

Paying over $200 for a non-SLI board is stupid.

Yeah, that's definitely the one I plan on getting now.

GG Gigabyte... way to make sure you get less money from me!

I would just like to point out the best MB of all time weighing in at over $900!

Gigabyte K8NXP-SLI Socket 939 ATX Motherboard and AMD Athlon 64 ...
$949.99 - TigerDirect.com:

and for the non-sli version --->
Tech Supply Ltd - TechSupply.co.nz - Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-9 K8 ...
$2075.63
