RANT: You can't use VISA Gift Cards on PayPal?

It's a fucking VISA gift card. Isn't it basically the same thing as a credit card? It allowed me to add it, but then when I went to pay with it, it said something like "You may not use this card to make purchases." Why the eff not?! What a crock of shit.

Can you also not use those prepaid VISA cards with PayPal?

I also find it extremely upsetting that the ISSUER of the card, Wells Fargo, charges a $15 fee to cash it out. WTF?!

These things are a joke. D: I would rather just have cash... Whats the point?

I often ask the same thing about gift cards.

Giving someone cash is said to be cheesy, or something along those lines.
But if you place severe restrictions on the usability of that cash, then it's a good gift.

Amazon seems to be one of the few online vendors who will accept VISA gift cards, so I always cash mine in for Amazon cards.

I tried to buy a Newegg card with a VISA prepaid gift card but Newegg would not let me without "calling them" first. Screw that.

Every gift card I've bought had a web site I could go to and register the card to my address. I've bought shit from a ton of places online with them. And unlike regular Visa's you can even use a lot of them for online poker sites

That's the thing, I registered my VISA gift cards with my home address and everything and Newegg still wouldn't take them. Amazon? No problem.
