RANT:WTF is up with ATM charges?!

So I went to draw money out of US Banks ATM yesterday. I used to pay like maybe $1 for an ATM fee or even $1.50. US Bank charges $2 for non-bank transactions....

Thats not even the bad part which I am pissed about

I login to my bank website today and notice that I was charged $102.00 for the hundred plus two dollars transaction fee...

Then under that transaction THEY TOOK ANOTHER $2 DOLLARS... WTF!?!?!?!?!

So they took a total of 4 dollars, or 4 percent of what I took out of the friggin ATM..

Grrrr....

I am going to that exact bank today and going to get my two dollars back, EVEN IF IT IS ONLY TWO DOLLARS....

It is the pure fact that they took an extra two dollars not the amount....

/end rant

the $2 is the ATM owner fee, the extra $2 ($102) is your own bank's fee for using an out of network ATM

Heh... Casino ATMs in Las Vegas were charging $4 atm fee, in addition to whatever your own bank charges. Ouch.

I got charged £30 instant fine for going £4 over my overdraft limit the other day.

Apparently it's actually illegal for them to do that, but what can you do? They've got you by the balls.

Use your own bank's ATM or use the "cash back" feature when you use your debit card at a retailer, and you won't be pissing out any money on ATM fees.

And don't blame US Bank for the extra two dollar fee. It's your bank that's assessing that fee. Go bitch to them for changing the rules on you.

meh, my bank reimburses any and all ATM fees.

But before then I would always take out a good amount of cash so that the service fee was less than 1%.

Republic here in MI doesn't charge for anything, that's why I use them. But the others charge from $2.00 on up. You get hit from both ends don't forget; the bank that owns the ATM and then your bank.
