Okay dont flame.. finally saved up the money and purchased new motherboard and cpu. Now I have the op to go x64. Well I just finished installing Windows XP x64... and wow everything I own installs perfectly. But wait.. network drivers not found. I looked everywhere for the drivers and couldnt find anything. Tried a different wiress pci card... what happens again no drivers at all. In fact the companies that make these cards are so worthless they can't even create drivers yet. WTF are they waiting for. x64 has been out for awhile.. not officially but its been out for awhile. These companies knew that they would have to upgrade drivers. All the major vga cards are upgrading... everyone is updating their drivers. WTF are these stupid WiFi companies waiting for. Now I have to turn around and unstall my x64 os and install pos win xp sp2. Any comments. If you think you can help me out that will be great. I will be unistalling x64 in 30mins.

My two WiFi cards are

Belkin F5D7000

Encore ENLWI-G

THis is driving me crazy

/rant.

Thanks

I don't believe they have any motivation to do so........ Not that many people have switched to x64 as there is little to no performance gain and these guys will soon get buried producing Vista drivers.......

It's only going to get worse. I've noticed that most manufacturers are leap-frogging XP-64 and moving on to Vista (32/64) beta drivers.

I too considered XP-64, but I couldn't find drivers for any of my peripherials. XP-64 seems to be a "lame-duck" OS. Microsoft doesn't seem to care about it at all.

It is known as the "Creative Labs Device Driver Development Model". Shortly explained the company in question will spend months, sometimes years, tracking down a software engineer willing to write code for $10 per hour. Next they'll beat the crap out of him trying to get somewhat stable drivers that they can betatest within half a year.

Finally they discover that since they skimped on the hardware, the developer is unable to test the 64-bit driver himself, so add another three months for them to track down a socket 754 motherboard plus an Athlon 64 that won't set them back more than $50 in total.

I'm not saying these companies are cheap retards. That would be too kind.

(except for the video drivers -- what exactly are the differences between most XP x64 and Vista x64 drivers? Not many I suspect)
