Rant: Win2K install

After much trouble finding the correct HPT370 drivers for my BE-6 II on Win2K, I finally get to install Win2K and get it working!!! However, upon further inspection of using Windows Explorer, I find out I installed it on the E: :| (C: = 20gb backup, D: = CDrom, E: = 30gb "main" hd w/ OS) argh.... anything I can do!??

Right click my computer, manage, storage--local--disk management. Right click the drives and change them to an unused letter.

I don't think it's possible to change the install drive. You might have to reinstall.:frown:

The HPT controller, IMO sux.

The ones off the website *should* work. Two friends w/ BE-6's (not II) used em w/o a problem (ok, it was a pain to install, but eventually got it working). On my dad's be-6, i just disable the controllers, he only has one HD 😛

Yes, you can change the boot drive's letter. I have had this happen once before.. I backed up the entire drive to the D:...and when I reloaded it thought that D: was my main drive. Not a real biggie.. It is more of a win2k glitch than anything.

If you can change the drive though, some of your programs might not work. They will be looking for files on e: and not c:

This is an unfortunate side effect to the way that windows deals with the default drive letter assignment. It does a similar thing for my Promise controller on my A7V133. Its not a big deal, just live with it.
