RANT - Why do slow drivers drive in fast lanes?

It never fails there will be a minimum of at least 5 idiots doing 45-50 mph in the fast lane while everyone else is trying to do 60 and above. And what makes it worse is that they will stubbornly hold up all kinds of traffic instead of simply driving in a lane that is better suited for the speed that they are doing.

And people wonder why road rage is on the increase:disgust:

they don't know they're holdin up traffic most of the time because they're too scared of driving to do anything but concentrate on the road...this same reason makes them not observe their rearview mirrors and they don't know that the left lane is the fast lane...they're the I'm just trying to get where I'm going safely people

Whats the worst is seeing a small old man or woman with a hat on in the left lane .

waht part of the country do you live in, I live in NJ, NJ drivers are the most impatient, its like a warzone out there, we will honk, cut you off and swear at anyone or anything in our way

i drove in texas and its so relaxed back there, rarely do people use there horn and people take the laid back approach, although the speed limits are 70mph

Its kinda like that here in Chicago.

Another thing I've noticed lately is that truck drivers are starting to pop in the fast lanes more often. Legally I think they're supposed to stay in the 2 right lanes

Here in the NYC Tri-State area it's usually a hispanic family in a beat up minivan traveling in the left lane at 45mph totally oblivious to everyone else. Otherwise, it's your typical old person or woman in an SUV with a cell phone stuck in her ear.

It has become so common now that I no longer let it upset me. Just go with the flow.

I do hate it when Tractor-Trailer rigs stay in the left lane so passing is almost impossible.

C'mon our Autobahn is clogged by left lane hugging idiots too, just at higher speeds. Even though the law requires u to drive on the right and use the laft for passing only... and dont get me started on the three or more lane ones!

How do you feel about quickly/repeatedly flashing your headlights like they do in europe when quickly approaching in the left lane? I've done it a couple times with mixed results. Is it illegal?

Illinois State Troopers do the "rolling roadblock" on the Interstate highways on Memorial Day. But in Illinois, it is legal to use the left lane for standard traffic (i.e. not passing).

It's really true. Americans in general have no idea how to handle their cars at speed, and even worse, a lot of people think they know but don't.

We're all exellent drivers in our own eyes.
