[rant] Why can't places get my order right?

So this morning my 2 year old decides to sleep in. She usually gets up at 7am, has breakfast and my wife takes her to daycare. This isn't the case this morning. She wakes up at 8am and my wife has a meeting right at 8:30am. I tell my wife to go and I'll handle it. This is cool because I do my 40 hours on the weekends.

I get to the daycare around 9am. It's a perfect morning so far. My daughter doesn't put up a fuss when I leave and it's a sunny day out. So I press my luck and go through the drive-thru at Burger King to get some breakfast. It's a simple order;

One Croissant with egg and sausage
Large Potato Rounds
Large unsweetened Iced Tea
I checked and verified the order on the little screen also.

No one in line. Not very busy. Only one other car in front of me.

I pay for my meal and look inside. I've got a regular size potato rounds and those dipsticks. Oh, and to top it all off, she hands me a regular sized ice tea.

I look at her and tell her that she screwed up my order. She yells and says that she didn't. I explain to her what I ordered. She gets all bitchy to me and plays the race card.

Ohhhh, wrong move missy.

I tell her that I'm going to park my car in the parking lot and that I'll be coming in to talk to her manager. So I do this and as I'm walking up to the store the manager comes running out and forbids me to enter. I'm perplexed. So I ask why. The manager says that, according to his drive-thru check out person, that I threatened to come in and "do some talkin." Which is exactly what I was going to do, except I guess "do some talkin" means "come in and kick her ass". So I explain to the manager that all I said was that I wanted to come inside and talk to you, the manager about her attitude. He says that he sympathizes but cannot allow me to come in right now. He says that she's very upset. I tell him that what her hormones and emotions are doing to her right now is of no concern, that I want my order done right "because I want to have it done MY way". He says he has the right to refuse any customer. Realizing that, as of this moment I've lost any chance of me getting my order, I tell him that all I want is my money back, which he gives to me out of his own wallet.

[rant off]
I think this is God's way of saying, "Buddy, time to shed some extra lbs."

I hate the fucking race card. No one of any race is owed anything anymore. Get over it, morons.

That's messed up, but it's hard to blame the manager from your story. I can only imagine the stories these fast food places have of truly insane people doing weird stuff.

I have given up on the drive-thru and just go inside to order. For the extra 2 minutes it takes, it's worth it just to never have to worry about the order being wrong since I can watch them get it together. It's obvious the drive-thru people are measured by how long they take to complete orders and even though I don't want them to rush, it doesn't matter. At the counter they seem to take the time necessary to get it right.

There's still the occasional issue like not getting pickles when you asked for no mustard instead, but I can live with that. At least I am getting the right items in the right quantities and sizes.

And in some cases I've noticed the drive-thru actually taking longer than going inside. On weekend mornings, the McD's drive-thru line nearly circles the building and you can walk in and be the next person to get served at the counter. I've been in and out in half the time I would have spent in the drive-thru line. But regardless of that, I've quit using the drive-thru. It's just too aggravating.

I have had situations where you wait inside and they keep giving the food to the drive-thru people to keep them moving while you are stuck waiting for a lull until they have time to get your food to you.

On the rare occasion that I do go the fast food places anymore, I always go inside even if the drive-thru is empty.

i was at a BK recently, went thru drive thru and the employees were all enjoying ice cream treats. i thought it weird at first that someone was taking my money with one hand eating some sort of popsicle with the other.
i look in and i see a girl sacking my food stick her hands in her mouth and lick her fingers. at that point, i was disgusted.
she looks at me & says 'yeah i know i'm fat!'
me: puzzled, shakes head.
she gives me my food, i said 'you know thats pretty disgusting to stick your hand in your mouth when working with people's food, youre lucky i dont call the health dept.'
to which she just closed the window on me.
well turns out upon looking at the county's health dept. website, they were given 2 tickets last inspection. one for employee hygiene or something to that effect.
not going back there!

I go inside too. And I often write out what I want in big letters on a piece of paper (to remind myself).

But that just makes it more complicated because these morons can't read.

Pictures next time?

And don't get me started on the race card. Corporate doesn't give a hoot.
