Oops, pressing enter a bit too fast :(

Anyway, will edit it in a sec.

Edit 1:

The EU is trying to agree on a law on Childporn. The Netherlands wants to put the limit at 18 years for allowing participation in porn movies, but Spain wants to put it at 16, and Italy (who else) wants to allow anyone who is 'sexually ripe'.
With other words, Italy doesn't want to change a thing, they can just claim the kid was ripe early.

Edit 2:

'Spotters' are used as a name for people who go and watch (often militairy) planes, photograph them and note done the numbers and stuff as a hobby. Greece decided to arrest several spotters from other EU countries who were taking pictures, and sentenced them to 3 years imprisonment for espionage.
Wtf is up with that? There are Grecian spotters too, so they know that it is not espionage, the spotters didn't enter restricted areas but sat outside the base watching, and they travel across the whole world to look at planes!

Different cultures have different sexual mores, and the question of whether it's right for one culture to enforce it's opinion on the other is definitely a matter for debate. The problem is essentially that the EU wants to "standardize" this, and it's likely to be done per the most "prudish" member of the community. What's the correct way to solve this dilemma?

Skyclad1uhm1,

You are an ignorant moron.

How dare you call Greece, Italy and Spain third world countries?
Do you know any history? Do you know how Greek and Roman civilisation marked the Western world as we know it?

Go back to your hole, you nef, and stay there. Your ignorance is so strident, it hurts.

For your information, the people in the Mediterranean area become sexualy active earlier than in the North, because their organisms develop faster. A good number of girls start having their periods as early as 8 years old. Consequently, their laws are different.

man.. the stupidity of some people on these forums...:disgust:

I am not ignorant, I know the differences well enough. I also know that in Italy a rape charge was ruled out by a judge cause the woman was wearing jeans and therefor she couldn't have been raped, as 'it is too hard to get someone out of jeans if the person doesn't consent'. That girls develop faster, ok. Does that mean we have to deny them basic human rights? Do you really think a 15 or 16 year old is mentally a grown up already?

The old Greek and Roman cultures had slavery, I guess we should have that too then? They may have been great and advanced once, but they aren't anymore. They are not third world countries, but not first by far either. Their economy is far less stable than the rest of the EU, and their morals apparently too.

Do you truly think those spotters were spies, and that they deserve 3 years imprisonment?

Edit: If a girl starts having her period at 8, and is sexually developed at 13 or 14, you think it's ok to give them a lollipop and rape them for movies?

you know, i'd say you shouldn't care too much about what other cultures think, but in this case 1 set of laws has to be drafted thats satisfying to all cultures, so i think the best solution would be to set the sexual age the same as the contract age and the voting ages. lock them together. 16 is about the lowest i could see that going, anything lower is just sick. actually... 16 is probably sick too. 17. final answer. compromise between all parties. some move up a year, some move down a year.

isn't the age in germany 16? thats what i heard.

wtf does "sexually ripe" mean anyway? plump and juicy like the perfect orange? :p

It's so broad they can let it mean anything, it's like saying you need to be 'mentally ripe' to vote, and letting kindergarden classes vote for Osama as the next US president... It's like just not making any laws whatsoever on the subject.

You did. I don't know the dates but I'd hazard to guess that Greeze abolished slavery before the US. If you're not from the US excuse me but your profile is turned off.

Anyway ALL countries have cases of stupid retarded court rulings and laws. I think felatio is illegal in certain US states. Silly court rulings? The US has its share of them too.

Do you realize that Italy is part of the G8? Only two other nations in Europe are - Germany and the UK.

Well, I find the US law that a Mother can legally put her daughters boyfriend in Jail if she Finds them doing it underage EVEN if both parties consented. That, to me is a fsucked up rule.

Ah the Netherlands, so enligtened, where can go get stoned on anything and everything and not be busted. Where prostitution is legal. Where all other sorts of 'enligtened' things happen. Now thats first world, baby.

Thankfully America isnt equally populated with legalized doped up whoremongers.

Ignorant tripe. The Netherlands has LOWER rates of drug abuse than the US, nearly no drug related crime, and their low HIV rates among prostitutes makes it look like the US has an epidemic on it's hands.

Laws against drugs and prostitution are a farce. They've done nothing to lower the rates at which they occur, yet they do everything to build up vast underground black markets that cause crime to skyrocket.

Heh heh. I remember Spain...they had the same brands as the rest of Europe but everything was so cheap. I got a bunch of shirts and finally picked up that leather jacket I've been meaning to get :)

Thank God for the weak Spanish economy :)

You might want to check your spelling and grammer before you start lobbing that kind of statement at someone.
