My reference to 'clean smell' was to someone I know personally who confuses the perfume scents they smell in various products and smelling clean, which if something is clean, should not have any smell, good or otherwise.

I generally prefer products without the perfume stink and buy accordingly. I hate getting into an elevator after someone who doses themselves heavily with perfumed deodorant which I sometimes find lingers longer than BO and really gags me.

There is a difference in deodorant and antiperspirant. Antiperspirant is usually the solid white stuff that prevents the pores on your skin from sweating as much. It doesn't add any smell what so ever. Deodorant is usually a perfume covering to cover the smell of sweat. Many times, like my old spice solid white stick with ocean surf smell, are both deodorant and antiperspirant. It even says it on the product label that way.

i think it would be more effective if you actually wrote a note and stuck it in the locker room entrance or something. Or just tell them they stink. i've said that to people before, though taken back i've gotten thanks for saying so too.
sometimes, you just don't notice your own odor, i know i'd certainly appreciate it if someone told me i stink, so i can fix it without everyone else just thinking it the rest of the day.
grow a pair man.

Ohh anyone can stink. It just comes down to bad hygene in being inconsiderate of others. Just shower every day, brush your teeth everyday, and use antiperspirant every day (at least the unscented type). Doing so will go a long way to making friends with others.

The BO funk is bad but I cant stand the dudes/chicks who show up and smell like the just took a bath in perfume/cologne. That crap is WAY stronger and fills up the entire place where as most body funk stays around them.

It's not so much hygiene but the food they eat. I hate to say it but when I spent a month in India I wasn't smelling so good.

It's all relative though. While it's offensive to us what do you think the Indians think? Yeah they think we smell like bad milk. So there you have it. We all stink.

As far as the gym, one that I went to had mandatory showers before using the pool but not the gym itself. Most people showered anyways though.

ok... i've had it... people, if you're going to be working out at the gym, wear some damn deodorant. really. it always seems like it's ONLY people from a certain ethnic group that don't realize that you need to wear deodorant if you're going to be working out around other people. i just can't stand choking at the gym while i'm trying to stay concentrated on my workout. i don't care how lax or extensive your personal hygiene regimen is; wear some freaking deodorant so you guys don't fog everyone out of the gym. it's just common courtesy. i don't walk over to you and fart in your face while you're bench pressing; you can stand to wear some fucking deodorant.

sick of it...

seriously...

you talking about dem brownies aren't you?

Gyms are sweaty and smelly. It's why you shower after. Deal with it. The guys probably do wear deodorant, they just don't act like obsessive-compulsive weirdos who shower before and after and, if they did, I can still totally see going something like an hour without deodorant.

Sadly, from my past experience I find this to be true.

Are smelly underarms (body odor) deemed sexy within Hindu culture?

I agree it smells awful to me. But it doesn't smell awful to them. It's a matter of perception and what one is used to.

Some people actually like the smell of curry. Some don't. Not going to appease everyone here.

As I said, anyone can and will stink to someone else. Usually when you sweat you start smell like what you eat as much of the simple amino acids in the foods you eat are released in your sweat. People that are used to the foods you eat won't smell a damn thing. Those not will smell it and most likely not like the smell.

It's simple enough though to prevent yourself from smelling horrendous to others. Shower regularly and use antiperspirant.

Other people say the same thing about white Americans you know. My family members, when they come to America from Korea, first thing they comment is on how much Americans stink. People that I don't even notice because to me they smell neutral, my family members can barely stand around because they reek,

Smells are a cultural thing. You think someone else smells, most likely that person things you smell too.

no

Human perspiration is largely odorless until it is fermented by bacteria that thrive in hot, humid environments. The human underarm is among the most consistently warm areas on the surface of the human body, and sweat glands provide moisture, which when excreted, has a vital cooling effect. When adult armpits are washed with alkaline pH soap, the skin loses its acid mantle (pH 4.5 - 6), raising the skin pH and disrupting the skin barrier.[7] As many bacteria thrive in this elevated pH environment,[8] this makes the skin susceptible to bacterial colonization.[8] The bacteria feed on the sweat from the apocrine glands and on dead skin and hair cells, releasing trans-3-Methyl-2-hexenoic acid in their waste, which is the primary cause of body odor.[9] Underarm hair wicks the moisture away from the skin and aids in keeping the skin dry enough to prevent or diminish bacterial colonization. The hair is less susceptible to bacterial growth and therefore is ideal for preventing the bacterial odor.[10]
