I have VSP plan for eye care (for last year, 2006). Coverage is like $75 for exam and $150 for eye glasses.
Wife went for regular eye exam in late december 2006 (around christmas). After the exam the assistant called VSP to verify our coverage and was told by VSP that we did NOT have coverage. She checked with SSN, DOB, etc to make sure that it is not just a spelling mistake in the name, etc.
So, we paid for the eye exam from our pocket and did not buy lenses because we wanted to find out the reason and then buy it.
In Jan 2007, we contacted them later and verified that we DID have coverage and it was mistake on their part. Now they say if i send bill to them for the service that we paid, we will be reimbursed, but since we did NOT buy the lenses before dec 31st, we won't be paid for that.
To me this is frustrating. They make a mistake and now they say time is over so i am SOL. Is there anything i can do?
:-(
ps. note that we did have VSP for the previous year (2005) and had no problems at that time. So, their claim that our name was not in their database is BS (since it was there in the previous year).
