<rant> There needs to be more serious punishment for road rage deaths. </rant>

This just recently happened here in ATL and is a relatively common occurence.

A Marietta man is wanted for vehicular homicide in connection with a road rage incident that left a motorist dead on a Gwinnett highway.

Police have obtained multiple arrest warrants for Norlen Eden Da Silva, 32. Da Silva is believed to have been driving a Ford Windstar van that was involved in a crash that killed James Freeman of Cleveland, Ga., on July 28.

Da Silva was last seen fleeing the scene of the crash at I-985 near Buford Drive, said Gwinnett police Cpl. Dan Huggins.

Police believe Da Silva could still be in metro Atlanta. Police have interviewed Da Silva's girlfriend, who identified him as the driver of the Windstar, Huggins said.

In addition to the vehicular homicide charge, Da Silva faces arrest for felony hit and run, aggressive driving and reckless driving.

On the day of the crash, witnesses told police they saw the van and a white Ford Escort traveling south on I-985 at about 5 p.m.

The driver of the van and the driver of the Escort, identified by police as Geraldo Gonzalez, began pulling in front of each other and slamming on their brakes.

When the vehicles neared Ga. 20, the van came to a sudden stop and was struck from behind by the Escort.

Witness told police Gonzalez lost control of the vehicle. It crossed the median into the northbound lanes, crashing into a Mazda truck and a Ford pickup driven by Freeman.

Gonzalez, 23, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, aggressive driving, reckless driving, following too closely and driving without a valid license.

Freeman, who was driving the pickup as part of his job, was thrown from the vehicle. He was married with three children, including an infant daughter, and worked for a North Georgia road resurfacing company, family members said.

Cliff's Notes

[*] Two macho dipshits had a disagreement in heavy traffic.

[*] They started cutting each other off.

[*] They caused a wreck.

[*] An innocent guy whose wife just had their third kid is dead.

[*] Both drivers fled the scene. One was caught when a motorist tailed him, the other has been IDed, but not yet found.

Fsckers. :|

Freeman, who was driving the pickup as part of his job, was thrown from the vehicle.

Sounds like he might still be alive if he was wearing a seatbelt. The accident certainly isn't his fault, but still.

Maybe true since you usually don't get tossed out of the vehicle unless you're not wearing a belt.

The other thing that hacks me off about this is the "no valid driver's license" thing. I'll bet $5 the other guy didn't have one either.....fsckers shouldn't have even been on the road in the first place.

Yeah, and I wouldn't be surprised if the reason he doesn't have a valid license is because it got revoked for DUI. That seems to be the most common reason for adults in this country to not have driver's licenses.

There needs to be harsher jailtime for drunk drivers first. But yes, unnecessary ego-trips from road-raging needs to be moderated by harsh punishment.

Living in GA myself, and driving through ATL every other month or so, I have to say that probably half the drivers on the road in ATL shouldn't have driver's licenses. It's insane.

That is horrible. 🙁

It's sad to think that anyone could get than angry at someone while driving. More should be done to the people involved in incidences like this.

Some don't have driver's license because they are illegals from outside the country.

It would help if the cops were better about pulling people with hand-lettered "Tag Applied For" signs in their windows or expired tags. You know goddamn well they don't have tags because they don't have license or insurance.

I think its like that in alot of metropolitan areas.

Why should any time of killing be worse then the other if caused maliciously? Murder, act of inconsideration/harm should all be treated the same.

It's things like this that make it scary to drive, even if you're confident in your own driving abilities.

I'm glad to be out of there Fausto.

That's where I used to drive daily. The area, especially metro Atlanta is loaded with illegal Mexicans driving the highways. Not fun.
