I noticed that Apple has the nerve to charge $15 for SD version 24:Redemption, and $20 for the HD version. How can they have the nerve to charge that much, especially when Hulu is offering both versions for free with just a minute or two of commercials. Hell... with all of the product placement in that episode, it should be free EVERYWHERE.

NOW I suddenly understand why Apple will not allow a version of Flash for the iPhone or iPod Touch. Bastards! :|

You just realized Apple overprices the shit out of all of their products? What you mentioned isn't even the worst I've seen from them either. When I was looking to upgrade the memory in my Macbook Pro (2GB --> 4GB), I decided to take a look on the Apple website just for shits and giggles. Guess how much they want for a dual-channel 4GB kit of DDR2 667? $300. Yes, that's right, 300 freaking dollars. I went and got my RAM from Fry's on Black Friday. Guess how much I paid for just about the EXACT same memory? $50, or $15 once I get my rebate.

This is why Netflix is so appealing and terrifying to iTunes model. 8 bucks a month for unlimited online viewing vs. $3 per episode of a show on iTunes?! Sing me up for netflix, even though it'll take some time for the content to catch up

you can't use flash on the ipod touch? What if you jailbreak it? I know the 2nd gen touch is very stingy, but what about the first gen?

Apple=overpriced has been well known since the late 70s.

I see some people are a little slow at getting the message.

Same with itunes. It sucks. Its overpriced. Its not superior to anything else besides the cool factor.

False. The iPhone and iPod are great products.

I'm not an ipod fan but I get what you're saying. My statement was too broad but in general the whole Apple ecosystem is too locked down for me (coming from a MS fan :Q).

I saw some post where a guy wanted his KEYBOARD replaced ... they charged 446 or something like that with labor. Un-fricking-believable.

I've been wanting to try Leopard though and their prices are amazingly high... So I scored a 13" macbook on ebay for 545$ after 200 cashback. That is about the price it should NORMALLY be new... but this one came with extras so I was satisfied.

I know I got ripped but I definitely could have paid way way more.

This is what I do. The only show other then live sports that I watch on tv as it airs (well, I still DVR it) is Ultimate Fighter and even that is growing old.

Any other show that I want to watch I netflix. And now that some are becoming available on instant demand over the 360 it's even sweeter.

Hah, I'd tote around and use a USB keyboard before paying $446.

The guy said no of course... I made it sound like he paid for it (on accident) but he didn't.

Still, the point is: Apple rips you off.

You need iTunes to update the iPhone firmware, unfortunately. That's the only reason why I noticed the ad for 24 on there. I can't imagine that there are many people dumb enough to pay $15 for a preview of a damn TV show... but I might be wrong :)

Well, I will add that iTunes made video by way of i.p. a viable business. But they really need a subscription model, since we all crave all you can eat content.

You can also watch it for free on the Fox website. But you analogy does not compute because you are comparing Streaming content that you just watch to downloaded content which you own.
If at some future date Hulu decides to remove the episode you won't be able to watch it for free. But with the apple version you own it you can watch it when you want how you want as many times as you want to for as long as you keep the download.
Is it still overpriced?I think so but what I came to realize is that these prices are not set by apple but by the company that produces them and they can not lower them much below retail or the Brick and morter store will stop carrying their products and and reduce their revenue stream. Its the same thing with Down loadable games from places like Steam the game companies set the prices and they have to please the brick and morter stores and not price them so cheap that the B&M stores revolt.

Maybe Apple doesn't set the price?
Maybe the network that owns that show sets the price and Apple gets 30% of the cut.

HP wants $300 to replace the LCD on my roommate's dv2000. The LCD goes for $100 on eBay, brand new. $200 for what can't possibly be more than one hour of labor? And I only say one hour because I assume they can't bill fractions of an hour; this should take an experienced tech 10 minutes, I can probably do it in 20.
