I need the

icon in my title.

A genius person I know ... we'll call him, oh "Mr Doesn't Know Squat About Computers" - just managed to 0wn his XP box.

Draw this mental picture. There are two sets of 1/8" jack stereo wiring running to a high-powered speaker set. One is labeled "input (computer)" - one is "output (speakers)".

Now, tell me something.

Exactly what would happen if you wire the "output" line into the unsuspecting line-out of an ECS K7S5A, and send a few dozen watts of electrical goodness down it? :disgust:

I don't know WTF he's done, but the system's gone apesh!t.

This man needs a Mac. Anyone got some Hot Deals for me?

As a matter of fact, I did. It was right when I noticed the various Gator, RealPlayer, and WeatherBug icons smattered all over his desktop.

That's what I'm looking at - for two systems actually. Anyone got a couple cheap integrated AMD SDR boards?

(When MemTest gives you 2.5 million errors on any stick of RAM you throw at it in any slot, there's a problem. )

This wasn't the input line on the motherboard though. And after he did this, the sound just stopped working. The drivers are there, the sound appears to be playing - just nothing comes out. Hopefully a new soundcard is all this one needs.

Now, now, you have to start this guy off SIMPLE. None of thhis crazy fancy Mac stuff, and god forbid he touch a PC...now, my friend, what you need to do is hand this guy a TI-82 and come back in a couple years. He should learn some basics or die trying.
