So, I called my cleaners yesterday to make sure that the laundry i dropped off last nite would be done by this afternoon. He told me that as long as I dropped it off before 3pm yesterday I would have it by tonite.

So I dropped my laundry off at 210pm, and I ask the lady when I can pick it up, she says tomorrow evening, I look at the ticket she handed me, and it says AFTER 530 in big black letters. I asked if that was correct, and she said yes, 530.

Fine.

Fast forward to today, I run over there just now and the clock said 525, i figured, whats 5 minutes rite? So i walk up, and their lights are off, and they're closed! there are still a few employees inside, so I asked them to open up so I can get my laundry. they ignore my pleas.

Finally the manager comes out and explains to me that its a holiday, and that they close at 5pm. WTF?!?! they should have told me this last nite!! then he proceeds to berate me for coming ON TIME instead of early. I know if one day i showed up there early they'll tell me my laundry isn't going to be ready until the time stated on the ticket.

Anyways, I show him the ticket and how it says AFTER 530 on it, and hes like, "I don't care if it says 7pm or 8pm, we close early today!" uggg...

So i said i'll give you a few bucks extra, and BAM! he opens the door for me. what an asshole.

Time to find a new cleaner.

As you well know, they are literally on every corner throughout the city (and not all act in this manner).

Can I assume this is a NYC story, since only New Yorkers refer to it as "The City"?

I guess we must all be suburbs to you guys. :p

the closest laundromat to me is 14 streets and an avenue away. Lugging a full bag of laundry that far sure isn't fun. All the buildings around my apartment have laundry in their buildings, so no one opens up a coin laundry in this neighborhood. . .
