They are a bunch of pvssies. They only vote for what they feel like doing, I guess you would like to hear my experience though. At my school they were hiring a new coach. He has no coaching experience and only three years of playing experience. They pay him the same amount as our current coach, who has 5 years coaching experience on the varsity level and 22 years playing experience, not to mention he has made his job schedule work around our team, sticking with us twelve months each year. They voted to fire him and hire this new guy, and they wouldn't even give a reason why. One woman who voted against him even admitted on record that her vote was made for personal reasons about personal issues with the coach :| I hate these people. They say they're out for the best interest of the students and community, but it's all a game, and they think they are hot shots because of it.

*Edit* Yeah, and I hate the public school system in general, too. The system sucks and there are so many reasons why that I cannot state them all. One of them is the Teacher's Union. Once a teacher has union senority (after something like three years), it takes something outrageous like rape or murder just to remove them. Ugh. Something really needs to be done.

School boards are typically staffed with people who think they know what they are doing. My dad was an educator. I've heard all the stories. I used to listen to him rant for hours about these people.

Then again, if I was the supreme dictator, there wouldn't be these kinds of problems.

It looks like your school board skimped on English teachers. ProTip: If you want to convey a message, type properly. It helps. But more seldom than not, you're right. We have a new superintendent from the Jersey City school board, who's been making a lot of changes. But the board itself doesn't seem to know what it's doing most of the time.

What crawled up yer butt and died tonight? ;)

School boards are often made up of a bunch of ego-maniac derilicts that would be better of as janitors and the janitors in their positions.

My school removed the German course entirely, just to get rid of the German teacher. They're trying to vote a board member off too, too bad it's my good friend's wife.

Our school board covered up construction issues back when my school was built, because they were scared to tell the town. Because of this, the walls were filled with newspaper rather than insulation, very few windows were installed, not enough vents, etc etc. I have now finished my sophomore year. These problems were re-discovered during Spring Break of my freshmen year, and the building has been closed ever since.

Sorry if my typing offended anyone. As I stated at the end of my post, I plan on cleaning it up later when I have some time. I'm just a little bit mad at this time, and actually a little bit amused because I never knew such stupid people. Just for the record, in my opinion, our district has a very poor English program. I know that my grammar and vocabulary are terrible, and I plan to work on it, especially the vocabulary as I konw the grammar and just didn't take the time to make it perfect.

Thanks,
Dave

...wow, I didn't know i could use the phrase "I know" in one form or another so many times in one post...LOL :D

Sorry. I just can't stand that. But I can see where you're coming from. Most of my beefs have to do with administration rather than the board, however.

i'm pretty dissatisfied with public schools in general. you don't really realize what kind idiots you are dealing with until after you leave the system. then it all hits you and you feel like going back and telling all the retards to kiss your ass. i hate teachers that respond to problems with "tough, life's unfair" or "deal with it". one time a kid was annoying me on the bus... and he wouldn't stop. so i complained to the bus driver. she said "deal with it" like all those lazy bums in public schools do, so i punched the kid. guess what? assigned seating for the rest of the year. what kind of crap is that? she's the one who told me to deal with it after all...

How do people get to be School Board members where you live?

We have local (School District) elections here.

Dave, your story sounds like one here. They fired a woodshop teacher and hired a guy with lots less experience, and the truth came out - the guy that got fired was fired because he had been at the school long enough to move to a higher pay bracket. The new guy would start much lower. Nothing communist about that, pure capitalism. :disgust:

Yeah, the funny thing is there was no salary difference because this is a coaching position in a "non-primary" sport (baseball, basketball, football). The whole reason he was fired was purely political. Capitalism and Public Education definitely should not go together though. And they should get rid of all the politics too :|. I wish some more of the parents of students would realize how much better public education could be in a nation like ours.

First off, they're not there to babysit you. Second off, you could have dealt with it more constructively - i.e. by moving, or by waiting until you were off the bus and jumping him further down the road.

part of their job is to make sure that passengers don't break the rules, and he was breaking several of them. moving was not an option, and while waiting would have not gotten me in trouble, it would not have put a stop to the problem at that moment (which is when i needed it stopped).

What specifically was he doing? If he was just bugging you, then tough. If he was breaking school district policy, then bring it up the driver... if she does nothing, contact your principal.

Welcome to reality. School boards, Corporate Management, Church Boards, and all forms government are the same, politically motivated.

I'd hope so. Most people would laugh at you here.

At least I would.
