Well, its official. ATi sucks my big fat left nut. I ordered a Radeon 8500 64mb DDR from newegg. I got the thing, toss it in my comp, remove all old drivers, in with the new. Fire up my favorite game for the time being, Tribes2, I crank up all the settings and...........oh....it sucks. Lags like a futhermucker. Me and my bro both got new vid cards this week, He got the Gef3ti450 (gainward golden sample) and I got the Ati Radeon 8500. Now of course I originally was gonna get the gef3 also, but a few of my friends, one already a radeon 7500 owner, and one a gef3ti450 owner, both suggested the 8500 because #1, its better in benchmarks, #2 cuz it is supposed to handle future games far better than the gef3.
Now let me say, I am throughly dissappointed. Ive tried 4 drivers, 2 straight from ATi, 2 Beta release all with no improvement. Ive tried it with multiple games, not just my beloved T2, and it still eats royal dick. Someone on here last night suggested that I format, which in my opinion was absurd, who here has ever formatted for a new vid card?! Certainly not I, and Im not about to start. So as of tomorrow, this bitch goes back in it box right back to my buddies at newegg.
Anyone else had problems with ATI cards? I know theyve been garbage in the past as far as drivers go, but Ive heard people lately saying that they are really cleaning up their act. I'd have to disagree.
Anyone ever dealt with a return to newegg? I havent ever had to return anything, is it a pain in the ass? Any info on any of the above would be great. ATI lovers, feel free to plead your case
