So it appears that today sometime between when I returned to work from lunch(1PM), and when I got off(5:15PM).. someone hit my car while it was parked at work in the employee lot. The employee lot is down a small gravel driveway, leading to the other side of the building where the employee entrance is.

I walked out the door and as soon as I turned the corner, in the fading light I could see - something - on my door, from probably 30'. As I approached, it was obviously a dent. Probably an inch long and 2 inches wide. I assume someone hit me while backing/turning out, since we park perpendicular to the driveway.

I've never had anything like this happen to me before, let alone at work. It's pretty aggravating. Especially to have a coworker do it... :\ FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!

There is white paint transfer. So I will be examining the bumpers of all the white cars in our employee parking lot, which won't be hard - we have about 35 employees.

Then what? I only have liability insurance. Write them a nastygram? Extort them? lol.. I'm pretty sure I'm SOL legally, since I didn't witness it.. unless they admit it.

Find the culprit and try to be a human being. Tell them that you think that their car hit yours and see what happens. Believe it or not, people usually do the right thing.

Now if they become dicks, file a small claims suit. You don't have to push as hard as you think to get the hammer of justice to come down upon them. Take pictures of everything, including the perps ride.

I know. It just sucks because if they become standoffish about it, I have to work with them.

It's also slightly possible that it wasn't a coworker.. Someone lost and turning around or something, but that seems unlikely. I wish I would have paid more attention to who was parked next to me today. I don't even remember if the car was white, or what..

Rent a snow plow and accidentally 'brush up against their car without noticing' :sneaky:

OP, I know how you feel. A couple months ago, someone hit my vehicle sideway while it was parked and left without any notes. Total cost to fix was almost $2.5K and I had to pay $250 deductible plus $250 rental fee.

I was out of almost 500 bucks for something that I did not do.

Assh@@ people suck big time.

Eli, I had this happen too only it was a patient, not a co worker.
I didn't see anyone do it, but there was a car parked in the area that had some of my vehicle paint color on its bumper. I called the cops and reported it. I gave him the guy's license plate number as the guy left before the cop got there. He filed a report and went to the guy's house and realized the paint on his bumper lined up with the damage to my vehicle. Long story short, his insurance company paid.

Except in many cases, if it was a coworker who didn't report it, they can be terminated.

If he discovers who it, he can file a claim against their insurance company also.
