Alrighty, I don't know if any of you guys know this, but I'm in a martial arts club, and I'm the assistant instructor/head kids' instructor, etc.

And one of the guys suggested for the holidays that we get our two instructors (excluding me) gifts - our main instructors were talking about these set of knives that are pretty nice . . . and it's relatively cheap - about $100.

So I agree, and since I'm the one who handles all the newsletter/extracurricular sh!t, I'm the one in charge of this. With the size of our school, at $5~10 per person, we should be able to cover more than just a set of those knives - so I email everyone, telling them that since i'm a college student I can't possibly order them and get their money, so I ask for their money . . ..

That was a month ago.

So far, the number of people, with full-time jobs mind you, who have given me money is . . . six. Out of THIRTY who are enrolled in the class.

Since it's the holidays, I don't want to risk being late in getting this stuff, so I put in the order yesterday with my credit card, and since I didn't get nearly enough of what I was hoping, I had to adjust my order . . . and to vent a bit, and let them know, I sent another newsletter that I've ordered it and it's coming - to which at least 5 fvcking people email me and have various suggestions to how I can get more money. After I ordered it. After I specifically said that I can't afford to order it myself. After I had to adjust my order because I didn't have any money and I couldn't cover for the difference.

People suck.

Now, instead of going home like the rest of campus (well they left last week, but I stay so that I could train . . . until today), I have to get up early in the morning and work tomorrow so I can cover the difference.

Well, I AM having a bad day. I've had stuff like this happen to me over and over again over the last few times. I mean, the class is composed of good people, but sometimes a lot of them give me lip service and never deliver.

I mean, this is a rare style and my instructors do this part-time, as more of a hobby, so students complain about not having enough time to train. So, being at a level where I am able to instruct them myself, I offer to come and teach them on my free time, free of charge. People agree, but NEVER fvcking show! Well, sometimes they do, but I've had times where I'd drive to the school, be sitting alone for hours, and drive back to my apartment . . . all for fvcking nothing!

And personally, I want to give them a present. As much as obsessed about this stuff as I am, they've helped me out a lot. If I could, I'd buy this myself and give it to them. But I'd thought it'd mean more to them if the whole class, as a group, got behind this and showed them our appreciation.

Guess not.

Don't get me wrong, most of these people are good people, but times like these . . . I mean, I don't have a specific person to blame, and if they don't want to give me money, as much as it well, sucks, I'm going to have to respect that.

There's other people who have offered to cover the difference, in fact more than one, but I'd hate for them to do that since basically they'd be buying the damn thing. I mean, I'm the head student, I'm in charge of this, so I'm taking responsibility for this, as much as this sucks.

So I have to work tomorrow. People fvcking suck.

Well, see, I mean there's a group of people, when they ask/I offer, they take up on it immediately and show up on a regular basis. Now the problematic part is, there's some that do not.

With my particular experience, I had even less chances to train than they did - and it hindered my learning curve tremendously. Initially, I called my instructor up and he hadn't set up a school around my area at the time. So when he began, we met only once a week with around three people and trained. Now, he has a private school of his own and meets three times a week, trains thirty people, etc. Which is fair, but some other wish they could train more - that's where I try to help.

Having not much of a chance to train, I'd hate for anyone under me to go through that. I certainly will help anyone who is willing, within, reason.

But for all that I've given . . . :brokenheart:

Pass around a card for everyone who paid to sign, but make sure that EVERYBODY in the class knows about it. Or send out an email saying no one has paid so you had to cancel the order b/c you can't afford to pay for this by yourself.
 
you sure they read the email?

i rarely check mine, but if im told about something like this in person id be in. otherwise emailing me something important or date-specific is a bad idea
