lost some data, but no permanent loss though. may be it will take about 5 hours of work to redo that. :-(

was kicking myself for not backing it up sooner. thanks to 1GB SD card, i still have the photos that i stored on my system :).

btw, the drive may still be in warranty (not sure on that, will have to check). is it worth it to send it to WD for warranty repair or for new HDD? thanks.

I sent my Seagate and they sent me back a refurbished model....

Was skeptical at first but it has been working for over a year now no problems...

EDIT: Then again, Seagate has a 5 yr. warranty, don't know what WD offers.

hard drives fail, yes they do

if it is in warranty, RMA it and get another, of course. even if you don't want to use it, you can sell it
