RANT: OMG!! Japan rigging Olympics?

So, I'm watching the Men's Snowboaring (Half-Pipe) qualifing rounds and Japan has given two American riders 7.0's when every other judge gave them 8.5 or higher!! Seriously, what the hell is up with Japan? That J.J. Powers run was best run there and Japan gives him a freakin 7.0?!?

What the hell 🙁

They did it again. I think it was Danny Kass got a 4.5 from Japan and 9.0+ from all other judges. What is Japan trying to pull?

Watch figure skating sometime. Any sport that requires personal interpretation and not solid times for marks always have that happen. Every country does it.

I believe the term is "lowballing"

<< Shouldn't it say Japanese Judge rigging Olympics instead of JAPAN rigging Olympics? >>

Not if it is a conspiracy of epic proportions.

Which it is.

Well, it doesn't matter if he gives all the other snowboarders 7.0 as well. What did he give the other boarders?

He represents Japan right? Then JAPAN is rigging the Olympics.

Nope, not Japanese. 😀

You think thats bad. A few years back at the Canadian mens figure skating championship the Canadian champion dropped out due to injuries. There was only one other guy who was known at all and the rest were no-names. The guy who was kinda well known fell 4 or 5 times and he still beat everyone else out, even people who didn't fall. The press said "The champion could have gone on the ice with crutches and still won" The guy who one hated that he won that way and retired soon after.

Just shows you that any sport that has no strict standards on scoring can be botched.

<< Don't they drop the lowest and highest score anyways? >>

yes they do I think........

Yeah, it was so rigged that there was an American sweep of the medals.

Anyone see that Canadian guy with the silver teeth and the headphones? He
looked like he stepped right out Jet Grind Radio and finished 9th.

there are a lot of things wrong with the olympics. for example, in atlanta, this chinese guy was poised to take gold, but it was so hot he fainted, and got a silver. they should have let him taking a f*cking break, it's a shooting competition, not heat survival, after all.

<< is it just the us skaters or all the skaters? >>

He gave a guy from Finland an 8.2.. There were only a few snowboarders before NBC started their regular programming..

Time to check up on the Switzerland vs. Someone game.. Go Switzerland 🙂

thats why some people and my coach included thinks that some *sports* aren't *sports* as you can't objectively see whos THE BEST or if whos the WINNER....

<< They should drop highest and lowest scores to avoid this, imo. >>

Yeah, I guess. Thing is, if you have two judges giving the guy sub 5's, that second 5 affects the guys score.

If the guys get's two 5's, maybe he deserves it.

The Japanese judge bases his score solely on the "Airs" category. You can't comare his scores with the other judges because they judge the snowboarders on other categories.

And, no, they don't drop the high and low score. You've got that confused with ice skating.
