RANT: My Spanish teacher has been trying to lower my grades...

Well, its been happening for some time now. I think the foreign language department at my school hates me. I'm a freshman in high school BTW.

1st Semester with Teacher A: 1st test of the year not even two weeks after start of school and she gives me a 0 on a 75 poi nt test. I ask her what happens, and she said I was talking with the kid to my left. Funny thing is, she said this AFTER my test was turned in and when I was ignoring him because being a freshman in a new school, I didn't want to fvck my grade on the first test. Oh well, got A's the other 2 grading periods in the semester.

Semester 2 with Teacher B: She gives me an A- in the class even though I should have an A, I talked it over with her showing her my gradesheet, wouldn't open her's up on the co m upter to check. Gradping Period 2 of this semester: Gives me a B+ not putting any extra credit, I take it up with her and she bumps it up to an A-. Grading Period 3, I had a B+ in the class and one test left, I worked both sides of my a*s off studying for this tests, two days in a row after school for like 4 to 5 hours each day. I finished all my work for this the weekend before BTW. I go in, take it, think I did good. Get it back, -18 on the front. And when she hands it, she tells me that it wasn't my best test yet. First, I get really dissapointed and the girl sitting next to me tells me it'll be all right. I look over the test and only see like 4 or 5 mistakes marked. I count em over, yup, I'm right. Even if all of them were 2 p ints a piece, the most I could have missed was 10 points and since most of them were like 1/2 point off for missing accent mark or wrong ending, it added up to 6 mistakes in point value out of 75. I take it to her, she fixes it and tells me how she wonders how it got by her... *sigh*

Oh well, I got ripped the first six weeks of both semesters, and got the rest fixed. Oh yeah, one of those teachers isn't even certified, oooopps! I'm not supposed to know that.... hehe, oh yeah, neither of them are fluent in the language they teach either, ooops, I wasn't supposed to know that either...

Yup, seriously, teacher A is not certified and neither are fluent!

Yea its called life. Just because you get good grades on your test does not mean you will get good overall grades.

How you act and pay attention can have a big affect on your grade.

I have had college professors have up to 25% of your final grade based on your attendance and/or class attention.

So no you are not special and they are not out to get you, its called life, get used to it.

There was a teacher like that (didn't know spanish very well) at my high school.

Fortunately, I had good spanish teachers. One was from Mexico, he was the worst of the bunch, but was definitely competent. The next lived in brazil for a while and she was just a really good teacher. The third was a former army interpreter who knew french, spanish, german, and english. He was kindy insane, but a pretty good teacher.

Hey! I pay attention in class, I'm always awake looking at the teacher, taking notes, not talking, etc. Lets just say if grades were based on attention, I'd be near the top.

LOL..oh please. You think that's bad? I once had a spanish prof who busted me down a partial letter grade just because I kept calling her "senora" instead of "senorita". Now truth be told she was an old hag and I just had to tell it like it was...but what did that smug, insecure bitch care about Truth? Hell, I should have received a medal for not giving in and feeding her delusions of youth like the rest of the class did, but instead she accused me of "being disrespectful" and burned me for it.

My advice: Learn to deal with that kind of infuriating crap...cuz when you get to college you'll find that many professors don't give two sh*ts about your opinion. When you come to them whining about the difference between an A- and an A they'll laugh in your face. And then if you mention anything about their grading system they'll blow a gasket and drop that grade down to a B+ just for sh*ts and giggles. And guess what? There's not a damn thing you can do about it because their Word is Law. It's just one more obstacle on the road to success, so get used to it.

But like NF said, freshman year in high school doesn't matter one bit. You got the girl, didn't ya? So forget about the damn grades...they're meaningless.

It's called, "FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN HIGH SCHOOL SUCKS @$$!!!". Live with it Freshman. If you really want to learn take a night school at a community college. MUCH better teachers and they have waaaaay more resources for you. And another thing is you're going to forget %75 of what you learned by your Junior year.
