RANT: My job sucks!

Two months ago I got hired at the brand new theater. At first, the hours seemed promising, but then I soon found myself getting less and less hours. My 2nd paycheck was about $225 for 30 hours. Then my third paycheck was for $125 for 20 hours. And my most recent paycheck was for $40 for only 7 hours. They keep getting less and less!!! I'm sick and tired of it, I want 30+ hours, I work hard and make sure the job is done, but no-one apreciates my work!! And the manager is a dike for sure, she's also a lazy fatass. Last week we totally ran out of candy to sell, which made alot of customers angry, and we lost alot of sales. You see, the only profit movie theaters make is off concessions, and if we don't sell candy we lose alot of profit. Argg, I'm pissed at this sh!tty job. I just hope my interview at Mervyn's is good enough to get a job there.

Maybe they are trying to send you a message that you are no longer needed.

Have you asked management to work more hours?
Yes, I asked to be put on the "On-Call" program which is the only reason I showed up at work today, the schedule said I was supposed to work from 2-10pm, but at 3 they said I wasn't needed, which is total bullsh!t because 2 hours later we get REALLY busy. For the past two weeks I haven't been "scheduled" to work, I called in for the 7 hours last week and yesterday and today were "On-call" shifts. BS.

I download all the movies I want--No need to pay your salary.

The manager must be REALLY FAT to be a "dike." 😀

1) Maybe, the manager can read your mind -- and knows that you think of her as a ***. 😉

2) Yes, definately, they are trying to send a message to you that less hours means maybe no job sometime real soon.

3) Are your co-workers getting 30+ hours per week ?

Best of luck to you.

True. But, I'd rather rent my movies, buy my candy, soda and popcorn from the grocery store for realistic prices and enjoy the movies at home.

That sounds exactly like the situation my buddy was in when he was working at the local movie theatre. At first he was working a few weekdays and weekends for sure. Then, he started working less and less and eventually only averaging somewhere under 8 or less hours a week. He called in for work ONE time and when he got back he had a message on his answering machine that he had been fired. Sounds like your treading on thin ice...

Thanks alot guys, I thought since the theater was new that less jobs mean't less business. There are plenty of small shops in my town that I can be a waiter. I kindof like the food business but I'd really like to get into retail. I think I'll go job huntin this evening, picking up applications.
