i got my brakes done by them a few months ago. the said my rotors needed resurfacing because it had a lip on it. they gave me 2 options: regular or on-car resurfacing. the recommended/pushed on-car since that's what the manufacturer recommends. price for regular is $50/pair. price for on-car is $50 each. New rotors was like $80/each. i was STUPID/gullible enuf to follow their recommendations and here's why:

I just found out my local parts shop (Carquest) sells new rotors for my car ('93 Sentra) for $19 each!!! AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! and to top it off, it looks like they shaved too much off the rotors and is now below the legal limit. Does inspections take into account the rotor thinkness?

AVOID MIDAS!

Hell, anybody else would have done the same thing. There are VERY FEW things we "do-it yourselfers" can repair on our cars these days, but brakes are one of them. Uh, guess that says it all. If you've got the skillz to build a PC, replacing brakes is child's play.

Oh yeah I went to Midas one time only, same situation as yours. Rotors warped inside of a year, and Midas doesn't warranty em past 90 days.

<---- Never going back.

You gotta be a masochist to go to Midas. They are and always have been rip off artists.

Long, long ago in a land far, far away I bought a set of tires from Midas for my '63 MGB. They asked me if I would like them to put some Never Seez (Sieze?) on the knock-off threads. I said, "Sure" being the trusting young man I am. These nice people are going to make sure the threads on my knock-offs don't get rusty or seize up.

When I got the bill they had charged me $3 per wheel for the lubricant. It couldn't have cost them 1/2 cent for the compound plus 5 seconds labor per wheel. Back then $12 was a lot of money, especially for a college student.

They have never seen my business again, but as P.T. Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute."

My Dad had his brakes done at midas once. Couple weeks later he was driving down the freeway, noticed some bad vibrations, pulled over and 4 of the 5 lugnuts were GONE on one of the wheels, broke all 4 studs and had to have the rotor replaced. He took it back to midas and made them replace everything, obviously they didn't torque the lugnuts down properly.
