First it was Fleet going to Bank of America.
Now MBNA is completely finalizing its system merger with Bank of America and I think it sucks!

Bank of America's online account access is horrible; while MBNA current Net Access is great. It shows you every detail about your account like the basics, what you owe, how much you have available, but also the APR% for everything and they also give you those disposable credit card numbers.

Bank of America's log in system is a complete PITA. I have to log in using a 10 digit number, then you have to pick the state that you are in, then you have to verify that your safety picture is correct; finally you input your password. At first it used to be my social security number for log in, now it?s another 10 digit number that I picked, it?s dumb they should let me pick my own user log in screen name. Their online access also shows you very little information about your account and no disposable credit card numbers are offered.

I want to complain about it, but I already did back when Fleet joined Bank of America. I also don?t see an email address where to send this; instead I have to actually call.

FYI this change happen on October 23rd so if you have a MBNA credit card that?s when you no longer log in at MBNA?s website.

I am an MBNA customer. I really dislike the company politically, so I rarely use the card. Thus, I am happy that MBNA is no more. Maybe I'll start using the thing more often. Heck, the credit line that MBNA gives is greater than the GNP of some 3rd world countries.

I recently got the new Bank of America statement and a little sheet on how to understand the new statement. I've never seen so many errors in one document in my life. If I remember, I'll try to bring it in and scan it next week. I don't remember the exact details, but it has problems like phone numbers that don't match, a balance with an interest rate and an interest payment but none of the numbers match up, payment from last month that isn't properly credited, etc. It really made me laugh.

I have the date 10/23 for their systems to be merged together enough that you can transfer account types. I have a Wachovia card with MBNA that I want to turn into a BofA card. I'd cancel it outright, but I need it for average age of accounts. It's my oldest card.

Like someone else said above. My MBNA cc is my first account ever back from 1998. Its my longest card with history. It also happens to be my school c.c. it has my Adelphi University logo. I hope BofA doesn't change that.

I also recieved the new statement, it was so confusing and annoying like their website.

I would have to agree that BofA's online access blows.

Even once you get past the login annoyances the simple fact that the "minimum payment due" doesn't change to $0.00 when you make a payment drives me nuts.

I just got an MBNA card too, I guess it's going to suck just like my two BofA cards. :(

Oh well at least I have 12 others to use besides those three.

:D

Actually the BofA credit card portfolio, which currently runs on TSYS, is moving to legacy MBNA's custom mainframe MBNA IS not the otherway around. Alot of the MBNA credit card systems are still sticking around and while it will still be fronted through BAC's sitekey and obviously the retail banking stuff will not change the credit card website will still share many similarities to the legacy MBNA site. It won't suck as bad as you think.

100% agreed...it's your ssn but default which is stupid in this day and age. They go to all the trouble w the stupid picture crap but then you have to type in your social. I'm actually looking forward to the conversion so I can combine my BAC and MBNA credit lines. I'll end up with one card with a line probably double what most people on this board make in a year. :)

Will WorldPoints be affected in any way? I've got a lot saved up, I'd hate to see them go.

ah fsck.

mbna has a pretty damn good website.

i'm already dealt with some switchover crap. my mbna card got upgraded from normal to platinum, so they gave me a new card number. i didn't bother changing the number on my online banking, so checks kept going there. when it was all mbna, they didn't care, they still credited the proper account in the normal amount of time.

several years later, boa comes along, and i miss a payment because they change the system, and can't figure out what account to apply the payment to. at least when i called in they removed all the penalties they put on it. took me 6 weeks to get that money back, though.

You might want to check out this website
Info on Merger

Thanks for the link :)

4. I have a rewards credit card with MBNA. Will my rewards program be modified as a result of the merger?
Your rewards program will not be affected by the merger at this time. You will continue to enjoy the same benefits you enjoy today.
Yay!

Well I tried logging in today for the first time at BoA.

1) There was no 10 digit number, no safety picture, or any of the other annoyances Jnetty99 mentioned. At least not yet. I got into my account just fine.

2) But BoA has computer errors.

I hate that these banks have become so big nowadays. My first bank account was (I think) a Bank South account that I opened as a kid back in the 80's. Along the line (mid 90's), BoA bought out my bank and I've just been hanging on their coat-tails since. Back in the 80's you could walk in and talk to a teller, meet with the bank manager, walk around their vault (while escorted by the manager of course), and have your basic accounts ALL for free. Now you are required to have direct deposit, can't talk to tellers unless you supply a pint of blood, and agree to name your first name born BoA just to someone keep your money. Pitiful!

BTW, BoA is having some SERIOUS problems with the system integration that started last Thurs-Fri last week. Things started going downhill almost immediately. I went to the bank on Friday and the ATM was extremely slow at processing my request to make a withdrawal. Last night (Sunday), the BoA ATM I went to couldn't process a deposit I was trying to make -- something about not being able to contact the system. I had to go to another ATM at another location in order to make my deposit. Then this morning I logged into my account @ 9 and there was this error message about my account balances not being correct. 1/2 my deposit wasn't showing up either, but I chalk that up to the system being fubar'd. Then I try to login just a few minutes ago and I can't even get to my account.

BoA's systems are royally screwed up right now.
