I respect him for his drive to be a champion, but not for personal integrity. He's a has-been hero imo.
I'm sorry. Could you perhaps direct me to the story where it comes out that he cheated on his wife?

yea right on man, just like all those idiots with the "support our troops" stickers on their cars, i mean wtf how is a stikcer supporting troops, you aren't supplying them armor for they're humvees. totally faux-hip

and those dumbasses that wear red ribbons to support aids reserach, those losers i mean how is a ribbon going to cure aids.

And what is it with people wearign rings on their fingers to say they are married, i mean thats so egotistical, i mean is it supposed to make you a better person because you have a ring? I mean i see tons of people wearing them its so trendy and ghey. All those fools need to wear a big ring to blow up their ego, i mean all that money isnt even gogin to a charity. I was in a a strip club once and asked a guy next to me why he wears a ring to show he's married and he was like "uhhh i dont know, it's tradition?" what a loser he didn't even know why he was wearing a ring.

you are comparing apples to oranges.
those "support our troops" magnets on cars are not the same as the LiveStrong bracelets. the magnets can be bought at Wal-fart and i don't know if any of the money goes to our troops. whereas with the LiveStrong bands you know a dollar went towards the fight against cancer.

you and torpid should go have a "i hate everything about everyone" party on some other forum.

I think your sarcasm meter is broken! In the .009% chance that it was serious, wow, just wow. I wonder what the education level and age are for some of these tools.

I was trying to be sarcastic lol. Guess it didn't work. I am actual cycling fan, even before lance had cancer. In fact I've been wearing a livestrong band for a logn time now. Nike headquarters is really close to my house, so I heard about them a long time ago when I had lunch with a buddy that works there.

For me I wear it because it is motivational for me. Like in the movie dodgeball, "I had cancer in my testicles, lungs, and brain, but I can understand why you want to quit" lol When I think my life is hard and it couldn't get worse, I think of how lance fought back after so many hardships, and it helps me fight on. It sounds corny but hey it's my life and I live it how I want to.

But most of all, I'm tired of seeing those stupid yellow bracelets. What is the point in wearing one? Should I start wearing a bracelet for any charity I help monitarily? It's so egotistical and faux-hip.

That is all for now.

ur just jealous...of his sweet subarus!

Youch! Good suggestion :)

It's also annoying to have someone obsess over an athlete and compare him to atheletes in sports you have never heard of.

Maybe you should broaden your horizons?

Originally posted by: FaustoUh, I guess you didn't know that I am, in fact, a cyclist. I've been racing bikes for 15 years. I know all about cycling and Lance so if you want to argue about Lance > Gretzky, go for it. As for the rest of the world and their views on LA, see above.

Ah Ha! Now I know where you get your screen name: Fausto Coppi

Lance is probably the greatest Tour De France rider I'll see in my lifetime, but Eddy Merckx is probably the best overall pro cyclist. Lance has an increadible life story, and until he divorced his wife, he was one of the people I most admired. He had it ALL: great carrier, beautiful wife & children, and a sense of what is important (his charity work). After the divorce, he is just the best TDF rider with an incredible story and giving heart; but he doesn't have it all anymore. I'm still a HUGE fan, and I only wear Oakley sunglasses, and Giro helmets when I ride, not because Lance does, but because they stood behind a dying cyclist when all his other supporters dropped his contract like a hot potato; even if Lance didn't, I still would.

yeah i'd rather people donate the extra $0.06 and NOT get some pat-yourself-on-the-back-look-at-what-a-good-person-i-am braclet.
it's raised millions? well how bout some extra $60,000's on top of that?

it's like when companies sucker school districts into getting their students to peddle their crap for them. I always just write a check to the school for $20....here you can have ALL of my donation, not just a percentage.

Lance is an asshole outside the cycling and cancer scenes so I much rather find a different way to support the cause.

$1 donation without the production costs of that bracelet > $1 donation with the production costs of that bracelet.

Bottom Line:

People donate for a good cause and proudly display their bracelets in support of the cause, but you will be damned to let them have the satisfaction of being part of a good cause.

oh yeah and be careful about wearing the yellow ones.
Apparently a yellow wrist band in some hospitals means "DO NOT RESUSCITATE"

hahahahahaha!!!!

Way to be judgmental about someone you don't even know personally and only through the media.

Ugh, no. He pushed away my 8 year-old cousin when she asked for his signature at the Frankfurt Airport.

My cousin: Lance, do you mind signing this photo?
Lance: I don't have time for this sh!t...

So I guess I should respond by "Way to defend someone you don't even know personally and only through the media."
