Just a few minutes ago, I with my dad and brother went to the park to bring a quad back to the baseball league to lock it up in the shed. My dad runs the league the quad had problems and well anyway, it was just finished being serviced to day. In the parking lot there were about 100 teenagers for some apparent reason just hanging out with thier cars the music loud and such, spinning the tires of their rice rockets.

My brother drives the quad across the grass (about 100 yards) to the shed and all of a sudden a Cop flys out of nowhere like a bat out of hell, sirens and lights going crazy through the herd of teens (obviously not hitting them) runs over the curb and screams at my brother "get off the vehicle!". My dad and I then run down there where the cop was, who was terrorizing my brother for cruising about 10 MPH across a beat up lawn that had been jack up by the previous football season.

My dad goes "hold on, hes my son, where just putting it away for the tournament that starts tomorrow"
cop: hes your son? and your allowing him to ride this, without a helmet?
my dad: yes, what the big deal? were just parking it, thats all.
cop: Do I can arrest u for child endangerment, impound the quad and give you (pointing at my brother) a ticket for driving without a license.

I naturaly without thinking said u got to be f*cking kidding me. He looked at my dad and made a comment bout being able to send us to social services and we are obviously subjects of abuse, well i kept shut after that.

Then on his radio he says we have a 505 (whatever in the f*ck that is) and within a min two more cops come to the scene with sirens and lights. After a little more sh!t, basically the same as above, telling us everything he could do, they lets us go and say, "dont let me catch your son on this again or he will arrest us" and do everything he said.

It pisses me off that city law enforcement acts like they are doing their job by harrassing inoccent citizens doing nothing that is endangering to anyone. I live in a area that is considered a "ghetto" to some where there is a lot of unlawful acts being connitted allover the place (nothing major like murder or anything). It even scares me a bit that they got 3 cops to the scene in less that 3 minutes combined for something as rediculas as that, where I once called 911 to report a pretty bad accident on my street. The dispatcher said yes, we have already received several calls; and still it took about 10 or so minutes.

This may not seem like much, but i was so pissed off that i could have beat the crap out the that fat piece of sh!t. To say the least I am terribly dissapointed.:|

Yeah, some people are just on a powertrip. Such BS, do you really need a license to operate one of those vehicles (what exactly is a Quad)?

Can they arrest you after the fact? cause if they cant, I would be more than happy to go through the trouble and report that jerkoff.

EDIT: my brother is 15

Yeh...you hatem right up until someone robs your house or steals your radio out of your car. Do me a favor and use the 1st grade concept of "Thinking before you say something." This cop obviously was on a power trip of some kind. Not ALL cops are like that. I know, I have two brothers and one cousin who are policemen. The sh1t they put up with from people who have the same attitude as yourself makes their job three times harder to do. So when you encounter a cop, whether good or bad, think a little before you let your opinion pre-judge your attitude. Think about what that guy or girl in blue might've had to put up with 20 minutes before they met you.

i too had in my high school days a slight infraction with the cops...they were caring and listened to story

in end, came up with a rationale solution that benefited me and my future

Again, think before you post....or in this case...READ before you post. I wasnt talking about Avalanche, I was talking about Ameeshes response.

I can understand what your saying wniend, but there is something about bringing things to the extreem (yes I know you were not quoting me). The crap he gave us for 10 or 15 min and his threats about what he could do and calling for reinforcements as if we were criminals on the run was totally uncalled for. It just seems that people who the least deserve respect get it, and those who deserve it dont. And I nor my dad didnt show any attitude towards him untill he started making ridculas threats; for the record.

the quad (4 wheeler) has a thing on the back that is like a fine linked fence attched to it, and when u drap i across the dirt is smoothens it out, reducing bad hops with ground balls. It makes the field look nice and smooth too.

Don't really like the CHP. Guys will ticket grandmothers for going 75/65 if it's the end of the month.

OTOH, I'm quite fond of my city's police. Polite, fair, just and have IMO, good judgement.

<< Then on his radio he says we have a 505 (whatever in the f*ck that is) >>

That's the violation number or whatever. Refers to the specific law being broken.

<< I can arrest u for child endangerment, impound the quad and give you (pointing at my brother) a ticket for driving without a license. >>

Technically, the officer is right. Some laws can often be bent around to suit whatever. Child endangerment is a rather vague law and he can level it if he wanted to. I've seen one officer threaten a mother with child endangerment for letting him run around in a courthouse :Q Somehow, a courthouse full of security doesn't strike me as a particularly dangerous place.

As for driving w/o a license, I think that tends to only apply to public lands and roads.

Of course, my take is that, laws don't represent morality. But that won't save you from being sucked into the legal system.
