<Rant> I really hate setting up new people

So my company hired 2 new people last week and they started this past Monday.
Being the IT guy needless to say I have to get them set up in the all the various systems, create their email account, get their workstation all set up, etc. All things I really don't have time for, not to mention they are a PITA.

So the one lady comes in on monday, goes through the whole day of training, etc. everything is fine. Tuesday comes around and she just up and disappears, doesn't show up, doesn't call, nothing. She doesn't answer her phone when our HR manager calls.

Now I have to go back and delete the 42 logins I just set up, and get ready to do it all over again when the next moron gets hired.. GRRRR!

ok I know, pretty weak rant but I just feel like finding this lady and smacking the snot out of her.

that is all.

Centralized logins FTW! If you have to manually add someone to 42 systems, something is wrong. Also, do you not run a DC? If you do, "setting up a user" is very easy and short work...

Job security, duh..

Any monkey can add one login to an Active Directory.

That's what I'm thinking. I don't do it very often, but from what I remember, creating an AD account isn't that difficult.

Many legacy systems do not allow for batched login creations or SSO.

Indeed, but many more can be automated in some fashion.

Weak rant, just do your job.

I set up thousands of users every year at my last job, and it only took me a few hours total.
