Rant: I HATE MIRs

Well, I fell for it. To this day I have only done one mail in rebate, it was for a sega gamegear. I mostly avoid them because of the hassle. Well I finally fell for one, it was for a 2GB PNY SD card at compusa. The price was $99 before a $30 rebate. After compairing prices with the online sellers (newegg, zzf, etc.) it actually came out cheaper to get after the rebate. So I bought it, filled out the paperwork, double checked EVERYTHING before sealing the envelope.

Fast foward to today, I get an email saying that they recieved my letter. They have a tracking page where you can check the status, when I checked my status it states I did not include the UPC. Which is totally wrong. So just because they felt like it I don't get my $30 back because I didn't send in the UPC. *sigh* Never again no matter HOW good the MIR I REFUSE to buy it.

As much as I despise cliffs I will write some:

1. Found 2GB PNY SD Card at compusa for 99 - 30 MIR
2. Compaired prices to online, compusa = good deal
3. Haven't done a MIR in years because I despise them
4. Mailed rebate off and doublechcked ALL items needed
5. PNY doesn't want to pay up, stateing UPC wasn't included.
6. NEVER AGAIN.

Eh, make copy of what you sent when you do MIR so you can sue them for calling you a liar. Always make copy of things, it's just common sense.

Which one? When I bought it? It was sometime in January. They just "recieved" my letter containing the UPC, Original store recipt, and rebate form today. Well minus the UPC according to them, which is total bs.

I think I would know if I didn't take the time to find scissors, cut the box up, and enclose the UPC.

That's the establishment for you, always trying to take advantage of every edge it can get on the consumer.

$170 is a pretty horrid price for that SD card anyways.
I got an A-Data 150x 2GB SD card for $130 back in August 2005 from newegg.com.

Did you call them about it? I've had a rebate from Buy.com not come to me. They fudged the address, but as always, I had a nice photocopy of the rebate form, called them up, and b!tched. Today, I have the money from the rebate offer. Also, back in 1998 or so when Zip drives were popular, I was in the same boat as you; the company said they did not receive the UPC with the form, but I called them up with the photocopy of the envelope contents and they gave me the money. In fact, I got the check the lady sent out only 4 business days after I had called.

Buy a tire iron, drive to the address you mailed the rebate too and just keep on swinging until you get some results!

This is to be expected. Circuity City tried to deny a rebate of mine because it wasn't purchased within the offer period. A 5 minute phone call cleared that right up.

Which is why I will never bother with a MIR. I didn't think that I would have to prove I sent them all that, that it would be shuch a hassle.

You might as well send empty envelopes to MIR addresses demanding money then.
