RANT: I am friggin sick of passwords

From credit cards to stock admin to bank to payroll to online merchants, each one has their own friggin password requirements like it has to have one capital letter and one special character contain a number to it can only be between 4-6 characters or 6-8 characters etc. etc. etc... I wish these companies would standardize on a friggin password requirement. I am tired of coming up with a new unique password for each website because they have different requirements. Arrrgghhhh.

OK. End of rant. Happy holidays.

Heh, i can barely remember user names anymore.

My military email password requires at least 2 capital letters, 2 lower case letters, 2 numbers, and 2 symbols. Talk about tough to remember.

Why not just make a universal password that fits every requirement? ie: 1 uppercase, 8 minimum, 1 number, 1 special char, etc. That's what I do and have never had a problem 🙂

are you sure special chars are allowed everywhere ?

When any password prompts for a change, change them all. Excellent way to manage multiple accounts with a single password.

This crap will all go away when systems start using EAP.

Hmm good point. I guess I can take off the exclamation point at the end for those then. 😛

I was about to post something to that extent... but I see you already have. 😀

get something like KeePass and put all your passwords in it. I keep mine on a USB flashdrive on my keychain. It takes no install, and has very strong encryption, so I have it everywhere I go and don't have to worry about people getting my passwords if I lose it.

I do something similar. But for those sites without special characters, I cut them out.

Note: to be a little more safe, I have 3 such passwords. One for registering to places I'll never go back to. One for places like this forum. And one for banking.

I just need to remember three passwords. If the website complains, I delete the special character and I'm all set.
