You have to sit at your computer 24/7. Only then will you be able to take part in the hot deals.

Not only did I not miss out, i actually helped several people get them. Its a good thing i have no need for laptops...though I did underestimate their resale potential. Next time, I'm buying for resale....

If you paypal RossMAN enough money, he will call you @ home to let you know when a sale is going to be. If he does not know, no one does. He has a spreadsheet in Excel for the next year of all planed sales from just abotu every vender in the U.S.

That's actually not a bad idea. If I had an SMS cell phone text messaging system like RedCoal.com then I could make a few bucks alerting people of Hot Deals.

I drove to 6 Staples in the NY and NJ area trying to find that $599 laptop. Almost certain 2 stores had it but were d-cking me around.

I wish people would stop calling ahead, it ruins it for everyone else. You really think the employee is going to tell you the truth after 10 calls have come in about a laptop that no one has probably bought in months? He's going to ring it up, see its $599, know about the $150 promotion going on and is going to say "Yeah, uh sorry, we just sold the last one"...

I would continue to visit the Staples site a few times a day during this coming week. I'd be willing to bet that Staples restocks their inventory a couple more times this week. I recall reading through the thread where the laptop was out of stock towards the later part of this morning, but then it was in stock for a short while this afternoon which allowed a few more people to get in on the deal.

After I told some friends about my Compaq 910us for $421 I've had to promise to run a hot deals service for them. I should have bought 3...

The super hot Toshiba Satellite S123 laptop for $550 is still in effect ... the trick is finding a local Staples store or warehouse which has it IN STOCK.

There are a few left in the country, just call 1-800-3-STAPLE option 1 give them your zip code and the SKU 499153.

Just because you don't have to pay sales taxes on purchases in Oregon, it doesn't mean that the other taxes will not make up for it. A state needs to generate revenue - whether it be from sales taxes, employment taxes or other taxes.

Unfortunately it rains 9 out of 12 months here, the schools are ALWAYS out of money, property taxes are outrageous and property values are skyhigh.

It was more or less a joke. I am getting sick of NYC though, people think too highly of themselves here...
