God this is killing me, it feels as if the guys at my company are waiting to fire me.

Its getting on my nerves. First the boss, he spends all day printing pictures on the EPSON 9500, when it doesnt work he calls me, to reboot a machine which he can do himself. On top he keeps ranting about some thing or the other not working with his print job. I have been telling him Photoshop 6 is your problem, he wont listen. Oh well.

Then today the 3D super comes to me and says I want the gigabyte card on my computer. I said "If I had teh card sure, I dont know where it is, bring me the card and I will set it up". Then he says no I will do it. This is teh same guy who cancel's autocheck in NT and then expects me to rebuild the machine right away (when the artistwho sits on that machine was on vacation and wouldnt have been back for a few days). Oh by the way his reason for cancelling autocheck " I have seen you do it ".

Anyway on top he says I want to put the "fans". I looked at him and said "fans???" it turns out the power supplies into the cases. We got some cases that the supplier didnt include the PSU in some of them. I hadnt put them in since it was not logical, plus we were no way near building those machines (we just bought cases so we could make the rack look full and not have a gaping hole in the center).
I put the cases in and then he comes along with the boss, who goes, you got to listen to him. Hell yeah, when I do I get pushed around and when I put my foot down you guys dont like it eh?

I am sick of people who want to cover their asses. I am not going to cover anybody's ass, not even mine. He is covering his ass so he doesnt have to find another job. He will even sleep with teh boss to get things his way.
Sure I am 21, and a college student and I had originally signed on for 25hr/week. I am doing over 40 and then dont even consider my college thing. They bug me all the time for this and that, and If I come late they still bug me.

Well if he wants to fire me I am going to say "Go ahead, make my day". Its not going to affect me, I will be glad to get out of that hell hole. A place where an admin has no respect, and the users try to do things on their own and when it doesnt work then call the admin to fix the wrong they did.

BTW, the owner of the company is just too cheezy. I have been asking money for licences but he wont give it to me, why.. his explaination "we are low on cash". And then he goes and buy 10,000 dollars of antiques (from company money) and spends 100G+ for a Cisco 4006 Switich so he can brag to his clients that he has got the latest. God if he gets caught the Software piracy guys will have a gala of a time, since he is making profit out of stuff he doesnt legally own. I have been trying to control it but the guy doesnt seem to understand.

Tell me one thing should I report him, even if I dont get fired or I dont quit.. should I. I dont need the job any case, I will be more than happy to be in a company which respects me for who and what I am and not demand my precence.

Enough of ranting for me, I need to get my mind of these idiots.. I am going up the mountain in my car, atleast I can let loose that way.

BTW> I am at home now, I left there early for lunch saying "errands" cause I couldnt take it anymore.

Edit: corrected title

You are obviously unhappy and sound as if you have been unhappy for some time. Get your butt out of there, you have everything to lose and the people you dislike have everything to gain by you staying. You have skills, experience, and know right from wrong, go make more money and get the respect you feel you deserve from a better company.

It won't get any better no matter how much they (or you) try to convince yourself.

If you don't really care about the job why do you let it stress you? Are you the sole source of support for those idiots? If so, I would call in sick for about a week straight...and watch things go to hell.

When you come back if they don't have any respect for you yet, call in sick another week.

It doesn't sound like the kind of place that is going to give you a glowing review anyway when you leave, but I would think about a peaceful departure if you ever want to at least have them as some kind of reference.

I wouldn't call the authorities for product violations unless they are REALLY doing something nasty to you. Hell if you want to bust thier balls you might be able to threaten to call...and then get a nice severence package from them! (very dangerous ground tho).

Actually I am going on a 4 week vaction to S.E. Asia. Leaving this wednesday the 13th so that's a relief. There is a new admin who has come in, so I can now leave peacefully knowing someone is there to backup if something goes wrong. But the new admin is already covering his ass. It sort of makes me think what the hell is this world coming to.

True, I dont have to report them, but it would be nice to. Last when I tallied the fine it was around 800G+ in fines. The onwer doesnt seem to understand the EULA. The guy wanted me to install W2K because he liked the way it looked (we had a few new dells come in with W2K). I refused even though I could have.

Oh well I might aswell start looking for a job, even 5 bucks an hour will do as long as I can pay my bills (though my parents are willing to cover my bills I wont let them).

Good Guy,

Reccomendation: Quit and report them to 1-800-RU LEGIT
for mass software piracy. You can get a % of the fines
levied on them as a reward for reporting their crimes.

Get out. Make some cash and give em a sharp stick in
the arse on your way out.

I would quit. Getting fired just doesn't look good at all on resumes/job histories.

Then when you go to apply for a job in the future, you can say you left for a reason besides being axed.

Also, I'm not really sure if I would go so far as reporting the software unless you are 100% certain that there is NOTHING that they can tie you to. Software piracy in a corporate environment is no lauging matter. We are talking up to $200,000 fines here.

Just be sure to CYA - Cover yer ass!

your right on that Vi_Edit.
However what if the guys main source of income & business is based on illegal software. I was always told that there were licences (from the 3D super) however I just found out, yeah 2 licences for SGI's which are a few years old. We dont even use that version of software.

I am not worried about the other department since they are pretty much legal, but the fact is that they too sit on a illegal platform, the OS.

I feel bad the guys who are programming all this stuff is not getting paid. I have almost all of legal software at home, maybe execpt for a few here and there but the major stuff is all legal. I know that I have been very careful but the owner of the company, well his explaination of why he cant get licences other than "having paid microsoft too much already" is just too lame.

True sometimes the software licencing is the biggest part of a company, and it should have its own account but making profit of something you dont own? I feel guilty since I am the administrator (apart from the new guy) and it did happen under my nose (and the prior admin too - BTW, he got fired).

Anyway I will check this post when I get back from dinner I have been invited for dindin.

You need to watch "American Beauty" :)
Just tell them you would have no problem reporting them to the authorities, and then on an unrelated note ask if you could have a raise :)

In all seriousness, if it doesn't feel right, quit. It's one thing if a job is hard, it's another if you have to put up with BS and worry about legal problems. I worked for an "internet startup" summer after H.S. and about a year after I quit I found out that they were being sued for mishandling the investor funds. I promptly took them off my resume. So essentially, that employment wasn't very gainful and was a huge waste of time.
