RANT- FIREFOX - ARGHHH!

Let me say I love firefox.

I'm about to get pissed at the whole thing though.

Why is it every dang upgrade breaks every dang extension (or most of them?)

I just upgraded to 1.5 release 1 - and most of my most beloved extensions are now not working.

Adblock still works thank god, and so does flashblock - but stumbleupon, pdfview, mediaplayerconnectivity, etc all do not work!

WHY! Can't they stick with a dog gone system for more than one release?

the new beta is so much quicker... i never could figure out what all the hype was about until this release

i never upgrade unless i'm sure all the extensions I have will work on it.

I love FF, even though updates do sometimes screw up my extentions. Heck, one time it deleted all my bookmarks.

STFU. No one likes Opera here. Opera doesn't have any of Firefox's extentions so your point is moot.
Calm down 🙂.

I personally prefer Opera for daily browsing, however you're right about the extensions.

When I need them, I switch over to FF and do what I can with it. Only reason I prefer Opera is for the sheer speed (it eased my 56k hell, and it sitll helps quite a bit when browsing as well on 768k). Firefox is pretty much a customizable beast though, and being open source it's an excellent. Fact that Opera has that stupid google ad is annoying, I have to admit - but I still prefer it for daily browsing.

My 2 cents,

Stubleupon has been updated to work with 1.5 beta.

mediaplayerconnectivity is listed as working with 0.9 - deer park. I bet if you tweak the install.rdf to have a maxversion of 1.5 it'll probably work too. If you've tried this and it doesn't work, my appologies, you'll have to wait for the author to fix it.

actually a ton of people here use Opera and prefer it over the other browsers, myself included, is does everything FF does, and does it better

and if any of you dipsh!ts paied attention you coudl have gotten a free opera serial from opera last week, takes care of the add

also if you know how to use google you can get rid of the ad in about 3 seconds

I switched to Opera when they offered the free serials last week. Great browser. I still like Firefox, I just hardly use it now.

Episodic, I suggest posting in the software forum and ask for help on getting your extensions working. That way you'll get some answers instead of a browser war.

Also mediaplayercontectivity does work if you tweak the install.rdf to have a maxversion of 1.5.

You might want to search around a bit... it's possible to override the extension disable feature (yes, it is a feature, to prevent potential problems with extensions when new versions come out). If you're not willing to do a little leg work, you shouldn't be using beta software.
