I just got back from the worst eating experience of my life at the local IHOP. After being seated by a nearly toothless hostess my friends and I ordered our drinks before deciding what to eat, and were given them fairly promptly, without straws. :| And it only went down hill from there, we ordered, and received our food. The food was OK, standard IHOP. Halfway through the meal I start smelling something like spraypaint, faint at first but it kept getting stronger and stronger until it gave me a headache and made my GF start to get sick to her stomach. We said fvck it and got up and went to go pay for our meals (since we had eaten 3/4 of it) on our way out we noticed and open bucket of contact cement just sitting on a counter. :|:|:|:|:|Aparently they thought it was a perfect time to stick new surfaces on the the counters near the register. I complained to the hostess who said she was sorry and that was the last panell that they needed to put on. Paid and left.
If you are ever in the Houston area do NOT go to
IHOP #1430

FYI, the entire restaurant does not revolve around you. The smell didn't bother anyone else in there?

Anyway, no one likes working on Sundays, even restaurant workers who have to, so give them a break. You get a pretty good deal at IHOP (omelettes, 3 big pancakes for like $6). What more do you want? If you want fine dining, go elsewhere and prepare to fork the $$.

Not always.. but after 9 or 10PM.. yes.

If you are that disgruntled, lodge a complaint with the health department. That, or get over it.

This one time at Dennys, I had PLASTIC mixed in with my bacon, like they fried it with the bacon. The waitress told me it was the seperator between the bacon, which makes sense.. but get this, all I got was new food and a free pie, I had to pay every dime for my meal.

That pissed me off to no end, they cooked the damn food with plastic, no WAY was that safe. They give you everything free if you find a hair, but they can fry your food with random sh!t and not give a damn; boggles my mind!

You've had too much caffeine. No straw, no biggie. Bad fumes, just complain right away & get it solved.

Yes I agree no one likes to work on Sundays. The whole point of the thing is that they have a noxious chemical sitting out in the open air while they have customers trying to eat.
I dont know If the smell had bothered anyone else, I didnt care to find out.

How about this one:

Last year my girl and I went to a Bickford's (same deal as IHOP/Waffle House, if you don't have one nearby) in Cranston, RI, at 2am on a Saturday night/Sunday. We were seated at a table directly next to the entrance, and were blasted with winter night air every time someone entered, exited, or even better, held the door open. I asked that we be moved to a different table further into the restaurant, but I guess we should've been more careful of what we wished for, because we got it, all right: the server put us in a booth in a far corner which had no light fixture above the table, just dangling wires. At that point we were all but forgotten in the corner for the next 25-35 minutes, until another server happened to ask us if we "were all set". Finally able to order, I got steak and eggs, and my girl got a chicken philly sandwich. Her philly was fine, but my steak was still mooing and grazing on my plate, it was so "rare". Of course, after all the "complaining" we had to do up till that point, there was no purpose in sending it back before they DID intentionally do something fcked up to it.

This all with the pleasant backdrop of drunken clubbers passed out at tables (my girl and I had a bet as to if he was alive, he was so catatonic), police coming in to respond to a complaint by staff about a rowdy table, and one server who we nicknamed "Stompy" who somehow found a way to leap with both combat-booted feet off the ground at once (and both hands full with plates etc) every time he passed our booth.

Fun times.
