I ordered an IBM 4200rpm 10GB TravelStar harddrive ($80) and today received a Seagate Barracuda IV 7200rpm 40GB harddrive ($89) instead, eventhough the invoice listed the IBM drive I ordered. Does NewEgg do this often?

I tested out NewEgg's customer service, and I didn't have to wait long for a rep. and immediately got an RMA#. So, at least that part went well.

Even though I'm not that familiar with either drives, I'll be so tempted to keep the Seagate had I been in your situation. :D

Yes, well, the drive is actually an upgrade for coworkers's laptop. Last time I checked, that Seagate is much larger than the IBM TravelStar.

Wow...free CPU upgrade...pretty nice.

I've ordered quite a bit of merchandise from newegg, and never once got the wrong part. Maybe I'm lucky (or unlucky :))

I don't know about that, but in my one experience with them they shipped the correct item to someone else entirely.

I got the wrong item according to what was listed, but by the time I contacted customer service a couples days later, they changed their listings and basically I was stuck with the wrong item. I really didn't like being put into the situation of proving that the web site had something different since I don't have control over what they list.
