This annoys me.

It happens with all consumer goods. People neglect to maintain their posessions, yet expect them to last forever.

My GF bought an extremely expensive pair of high boots about 18 months ago. She wears them frequently, but has not once cleaned, polished, or sprayed them. The other day I remarked that they were looking a bit tatty, and she replied, "Yeah, I know. I'm going to buy new ones."

I've just finished cleaning and polishing them and they look nearly brand-new. I'm going to spray some protectant on them to prevent more salt stains.

Same with cars. We just bought a new vehicle and she treats the cockpit like it's a kitchen.

Ugh.

So she blamed the manufacturer?

Yeah, she said they weren't very good quality. Pffft.

what kind of boots were these and how much did they cost? I can think of a few brands that will last forever no matter the punishment.

Jil Sander and I'm not disclosing the price. Anyway, there isn't anything wrong with the boots, they were just dirty and had a few scuffs. They look great now.

european boots

they should last for a long time. one thing europeans are good at is making good quality stuff that lasts a long time
Like VW's...
