I hate it! Basically our whole school runs on the internet, everyone HAS to have a laptop, and all of our courses have their schedules and assignments posted online, but damn it the internet on res like NEVER works. What the hell. It works on the campus computer center but that closes at 11 pm and how the hell am I supposed to check my assignments do quiz, etc.... WHEN THERE IS NO WAY TO GET ON THE NET! This sucks, and this is supposed to be Canada's newest and most sophisticed university. It has wireless around the school, JUST NOT ON RES. Also when the internet works on res its BLOODY SLOW. WTF, I hate it.

Tell your colleagues to stop downloading music and pr0n. The campus data center is probably throttling the bandwidth to your greedy dorms. As for a constructive solution, bring your laptop or whatever and go to the library or wherever else on campus you can jack in to / wirelessly access the network from any subnet (read: location) outside of your dorm.

They're checking the bandwith for each individual user here and if it's greater than like 5gb per week, then you'll get a talking to. Too bad the freaking internet connection sucks, anyway. I get about 60KB/sec download! BTW, I go to Baylor.

Save the fact that it's the highest ranked commerce program in canada, and 13th in the world and it had the highest overall acceptance average this year. Fvcking tard.

My internet sucks 20x more than that. I goto Savannah College of Art and Design... TALK ABOUT CRAP!!! First I have to go through 6 On campus Servers just to get to the internet, talk about HUGE problems with routing! Each PC isn't even connected straight to the net we all share one IP... so about 3000 people (on campus) sharing about 3 IP addresses and then try routing ports. It just doesn't work. It takes like 2 seconds to even pull up google. Apposed to instantaneous like any other place. Then after that the connection goes down about 3 times a day. In addition to the down time comes a slow connection. About every 15 minuets when playing online games my connection will go from around 70 to a horrible 400-600 this last about 2 minutes. HORRIBLE. I hope 0% of my tuition money is going to this crappy internet service. I'd get better stability with dial-up.

Haha...are you freaking stupid?

I got accepted to Queen's last year to their commerce program (I deferre dfor a year as I was having surgery in September) I had a 94% average, I was accepted to every single Canadian university. A good friend of mine with an 89% average got rejected, and he got into Georgetown in the States too. Right...last chance. You do realize that for numerous consecutive years Queen's has had the highest acceptance requirements in Canada? McGill being the second highest and falling two whole points behind Queen's? Don't take stupid jabs because you attend a subpar university.

sharing 10s of thousands of internal IPs on a single public IP is normal and considered good practice.

blame your buddies for downloading porn.

Queen's is alright for biz, But Western's Ivey, Toronto's Rotman and York's Schulich are better than Queens...

Otherwise, in Engineering, Waterloo rules EXCEPT for Chem, where UToronto rocks. They've had the longest chemical engineering program in Canada.

I'm not a commerce student, but I got into Queens, UW, and a few other worse off places for engineering, and I rejected all of them. Taking ChemEng at UToronto now.

And UOIT really, honestly, can't compare with UW, UT Queens and the like. Sorry.

<Fast facts
Enrolment at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology is expected to rise to 6,500 students by 2010.> WTF, that's like less than 3 of my high schools...

Do me a favor, look through all ranking magazines, the only university that even comes close is Western's Richard Ivey School of Business. Queen's and Western have fought it out for the top spot for a long time, but in the most recent rankings Queen's came out first. UoT and York are good schools, but they don't compare to Goodes at Queen's, or Richard Ivey at Western.

Don't make arbitrary statements about a program you're not in with stats which do not exist. I'm really not concerned about making everyone think Queen's is the best school - school rankings do a sufficient job of that - but when someone brings up false information and attempts to slander a school which on numerous occassions has been ranked higher than his, it gets a bit annoying.

Not anymore, Richard Ivey is 16th in the world and falling like a lead weight partly because it uses the Harvard Case Study Method. Rotman's is second to Queen's in Canada and York is 4th I believe for commerce. The average queen's commerce grad earns in excess of 100,000 upon graduation.

As favorable as I am towards Queen's I do think the Harvard case study method is effective, but only if used while obtaining the masters. It's far too ineffective to teach material, but is useful after students have established a foundation in their business studies.
