Rant: College Fire Alarms....

I honestly don't understand what kind of asshole thinks it is funny to run around and pull the fire alarms at 2 AM on a Thursday Morning.

That night, after dinner with my friends, I wasn't feeling well so at ~12:30AM I went to bed (8 AM class tomorrow). 2AM comes around and the fire alarm sounds. I'm feeling horrible (Sore Throat Runny nose) but am a little late so in my haste I trip over something going out into the 15C weather. We get back in ~2:45 (Who knows why it is so long).

This morning for some lucky reason I just wake up and I find that I tripped over the cord to my alarm and that my class (Which I have a quiz in) is in 5 mins. (<- I managed to make it and Ace the quiz, though I still feel like crap- only now I am tired)

I had someone pull the alarms on my bulding during finals week last semester. My GF was saying, "Who in there right mind would do this?!" I said, "I fully expect this kind of sophmoric behavoir in law school." Her, "why?" Me, "Competition." Her, "*head assplodes JFK style*"

Actually that's not so bad...Last year we had someone in my campus apartment pull the fire alarm cuz there was a party going on and they were smoking so much weed it looked like the building was on fire. This was when it was about 15 degrees F outside and snowing...the idiot partyers locked themselves in the room. Apparently they didn't think the 4 fire trucks and 5 police cars were real. All busted and taken away in cuffs. Had to wait outside for 2 hours but that alone made it worth it!

Sucks tho that yours was a false alarm or something like that.

Someone who didn't study for the exam they were supposed to be taking instead of pulling a fire alarm.

When I was living in the dorms, they were pulled about twice a week, usually between 2-4 AM. I just stopped getting up because I knew it was those fvckers. If it was ever a real fire, I would have just stepped out of my window. (ground level)

Yeah, last semester I was over at the girls dorm with some friends. I was on crutches and they live on the 7 floor. I took the elevator to get there. Somehow fire alarms came up and I was like they better not have one tonight. No sooner did I say that then they had one.

One was at 11:00PM
One was at 3:00AM
One was at 5:00AM

Every time they had one I had to hobble down the stairs in my crutches. Turns out that my dorm had 3 that night as well, but seeing as I live on the first floor it would have made it a lot easier -_-.

Seriously, I hope I catch someone pulling the fire alarm at like 3 AM one night :|

Edit: Oh and you wouldn't believe what happens when the girls fire alarm is pulled. As I hobbled out, no less than 30 guys come walking from some of the other dorms. How pathetic!! I live in an all-guys dorm so we are a prime-candidate, for whatever reason, of fire-alarms.

In all seriousness, I would make damn sure he stayed there until my RA or the Building Administrator popped up to see why it was pulled.

Nice. He gets a couple thousand dollar fine and kicked out of campus housing, and you go to jail for assault.

I remember sophomore year of college living in the dorms and the power went out to the main dorms on campus. Power was out at around 12:15-12:20am in the morning. After the emergency lights went on, the fire alarm went off. Students had to evacuate multiple buildings. It was a little chaotic when you have 3,000 + students wandering the streets b/c they can't go to their dorms. I didn't get back to my dorm room until after 3 that night. Some students were not so lucky, the didn't get back into their dorm room until after 6am. They actually had to bus students to one of the gym facility and give them blankets and pillows so they could "sleep" on basket court.

I almost feel bad for you OP, just almost.

Alright dude, we had a university sanctioned 3AM fire drill last December , had to go out into 30 degree weather. Consider it a chance to give your jacket to a girl you like and get her to like you a little more. Worked for me 😀

My freshman year, we would have a false fire alarm at least once a week. One night, it was pulled four times. I just got in the habit of putting my head under the pillows and ignoring them.

Lol I suppose that would be nice, but IIRC at least one had a robe on after being caught in the shower or something. 😛

Not that night no. We both had an 8AM class (it was a Tuesday). But I already knew her somewhat, and that action helped to improve relations to the point where I asked her out that weekend. She is now my GF.
