RANT: Clear Channel is as Bad as the RIAA

You all should do some research on Clear Channel, the company that has pretty much taken control of a majority of the radio stations that play rock music. Did you know that your local DJ most likely has no control over what he/she plays on the radio? Did you know he/she has to play a certain list of music as provided by Clear Channel.

Clear Channel and the RIAA are working very hard to kill independent bands and our right to listen to whomever we want.

i too hate clear channel...they play the same music over and over on the rock channel in my town (cincinnati webn if anyone cares...)

what can we do to stop them?
 
Yeah they were the ones that halted internet radio because of copyright issues. more like they didnt get any money from it. Now you can listen to the radio online, but like the article and other say, radio music sucks.

I think the only way would be a country-wide, total boycott of all things Hollywood: CDs, movies, etc. The chances of organizing that are slim-to-none I'm afraid.
 
I don't want to defend Clear Channel because I was EXTREMELY ticked at their stance on Internet radio streams. But playlists 'set from on high' is definitely not a new thing. That has been going on for a LONG time.
 
the telecom dereg act that cleared the way for a giant radio monopoly was one of the worst thought out pieces of legislature ever.
 
KFOG!!! (Classic Rock, some New Wave, briefcase full of Blues, and a little Reggae)

KCSM!!! (NPR affiliate, plays old school Jazz)

KDFC!!! (Classical)

It's a start, anyway.
