Thats why you put a few 50 watters under your bumper and wire them to a replay that flips with your reverse lights. then you can see.

Only true for the rear in California. The fronts can be white or amber.

It's late so I may be misreading what you said...but in CA your front turn signals must be yellow/amber.
 
I try to use my reverse lights to indicate to inconsiderate people who are two inches behind me that I need to back up when Im in a parking lot situation where I can't go forward, but they rarely pay attention.

I guess its people like you who think they are never used as indicators
