OK, as some of you know, I'm a fan of the 80's early 90's turbo Dodges. I own two of the rarest cars they ever produced, and I love everything about them - they're fast, inexpensive, reliable, and easy to work on. They were great cars, and yet they never got the recognition they deserved. As a part of the SDML (Shelby Dodge Mailing List), we discuss many things as a whole and we have a great little community, there's a big following for these cars, many just don't know it. We get little recognition in the public eye, and once in a great while, a Turbo Dodge will get a small pic or an article in a small-time magazine. We dont get much for memorabelia as well (scale models, posters, etc...)
Well, enough with the background... recently we found out that diecast.org was holding a "wish list" vote in order to produce an all new diecast scale model. It was posted to the SDML, and everyone who was interested in owning a scale turbo Dodge, put their vote in for whatever car they wanted (this wasn't a checklist, but rather a "type it in yourself" deal, so any car goes). The voting is done in dollars, and the 1989 Dodge Daytona Shelby was in first place by thousands of dollars. Next day I go back to check, and we're down to $1400, WTF!? :| Come to find out, they dissolved the votes from the Daytona to the other cars because they didn't think the car will sell in model form... Our votes are gone, and the chance at getting a kickass little model is gone for hundreds of people. Yeah, it's no big deal, but it still chaps my ass that these cars still get no respect. To those that actually read this, or even clicked on it, thanks
